Ray Lewis Fired Back at Shannon Sharpe about Protest. LOl

Whenever I hear someone say an athlete of color should "Stick to sports", I also hear "You're here to dance N****r, not speak". I know it hurts some of you to admit this, but athletes today don't have to watch injustice, and keep their mouths shut. Guys like Joe Louis and Jackie Robinson had to pretend they didn't see societal ills, merely because them talking would have put their careers at risk. They had to fight behind the scenes, because they couldn't afford to gain the label of "Race Men". Joe Louis wasn't allowed to take a picture standing next to a white woman, merely because doing so would have jeopardized his title chances. Think that over. He couldn't just go fight and be the best, he had to sell himself as nonthreatening, so white people wouldn't have a problem with him being champ.

Well, athletes today don't have to do that, and it's nice to see that athletes are uniting behind causes greater than themselves. It's amazing that people hide behind false patriotism, but lack the courage to stand up for the ideals the flag allegedly represent. When one of our fellow citizens is having their civil rights violated, when one of us experiences injustice, it is an affront to all. That national anthem they are taking a knee during is supposed to be about bravery, and standing up for what is right. What is more right than standing up for those less fortunate than you?

amazing, someone down voted this..

The way our history and the concept of patriotism is being dismissed and rewritten (to fit an oppressive agenda) is the most disturbing thing to me. Thank you for your contribution on this subject.

Thanks for the textbook example of pompassity.

In other words, you couldn't follow along, because I didn't dumb it down enough for you. Oh well.

It's comical that people who cheer for a program built on the backs of minority student-athletes, would have a problem with minorities stating that they deserve first class citizenship, like everyone else. That's what this comes down to, this country cannot continue to treat large segments of the population as unwelcome guests, even though they are entitled to same constitutional protections as any other citizen. Remember, when Ahmmon Richards or Shaq Quarterman take off their uniform, a lot of cops won't see them as solid student-athletes, they'll see them as vermin to be exterminated, and that's unacceptable. Law enforcement has to do better(Actually, the people that train and equip officers have to do better) , and as citizens it is on all of us to stand up against injustice, even if that injustice doesn't apply to us.

Growing up in the 718 you learn all types of differences. I'm Italian and I dont give a **** what any ones background is. If I like you I like you. If you're a ****bag then you're a ****bag.

I stand and salute for one reason. When I was young my parents took me to D.C. My father was 4 tours Vietnam special ops (he refuses special forces). My father is Purple Heart recipient but doesn't broadcast anything. He found a few friends of his on the wall and had the worker "scribble" their name on paper for him. It was the first and only time time saw him cry. My father left his blood, sweat, and tears in foreign soil. The names on that wall left much more than that.

That's why I would NEVER kneel...I'm not dismissing anything. Just my point of view.

That's a pretty funny and really well done impersonation, he even looks like him with the painted hair

Stories of daddy whimpering have nothing to do with this BS narrative about how NFL players kneeling to raise awareness of police brutality is somehow an affront to patriotism, troops, the flag, etc. Shocked at how willingly some of you allow yourself to be divided.

Whats amazing is how you have not listened to one person who is offended by the kneeling. Not one. No one has said they dont have the right to protest, no one. That's where your bias shuts down your ability to listen and stop you from understanding what people are saying. Almost all of the people who are offended by the kneeling are also offended by all racial bias that exists in this country but your too FN hardheaded to realize that. And you carry on this fake, made up argument that people are against what they are protesting. When its 100% obvious they are not. Its like racial bias only means kneeling. FN Stupid! This world has become nothing more than lying MFers who cant listen to anyone and who have no FN clue how to communicate.

It's amazing how all these politicians have to do is wave the flag in their face, and these people will willingly surrender their rights and dignity. I don't think it's an accident that some of the most simple minded people you come across are also the first ones to scream about the flag, and respecting it. The flag is a piece of cloth, it is the people that make up this nation, and the ideals we all believe in that makes that flag worth a ****. It's the concept of equality under the law for all that makes that flag worth dying under.

By the way, what's worse: An athlete enjoying a rap song and kneeling during the national anthem(To protest a societal ill), or Nascar fans, and officials flying the flag of TREASON in every **** infield.

Indoctrination aside (not one original thought) the only reply I can offer you is to seek help, or take one of the many daily flights to the preferred country of your choice. Go away racist kid, you bother me.

How can a UM fan hate Ray Lewis ? Warren Sapp sure as that dude has some issues but Ray is the epitome of Cane.

Everybody just needs to live and let live and put all of our biases aside. The best thing we do as a country is play politics. So sad. Respect everyone else's opinion, regardless. Who knows, you may learn something along the way. Ignore ignorance and it will die. Pay attention to ignorance and it will grow. I should know for as a member of a minority, I've been discriminated against. If athletes feel strong strongly about political issues, then they should dedicate their free time and money to pursue those causes. Sports are just that, sports. Keep politics out of sports period.

Above posts is basically what is wrong with our country.

As a Hispanic American, I have been through many of the trials and tribulations that most minorities do, however I choose to focus on root cause of issues and action to deal with them. I came from a country where slavery was active in the past, Indigenous and African, by Spaniards, however racism in my country is unknown today. Why is that? As a people we chose to understand and learn from history and move on with our lives. Everybody tries to treat each other equally and respectfully. The problem I see in the US is that we as people do not want to move on. We continue to live in the past. We continue to pay too much attention to biases, racism and ignorance, and guess what? You cannot change that. There are some people in this world that do not like me because I am Hispanic. Under our first amendment, they have the right to free speech and their opinion and it is not my job to try to change their views. Also guess what? Neither you or I are very much different. There are people in this world that I do not like. I am also sure that regardless of who you are, there are people you may not like, and you have the right to feel that way if you choose. LIVE AND LET LIVE!

Let's move on with our lives. Let's work to improve our communities so that its children will have a better future. Let's look at ourselves in the mirror and focus on the things we can do to make this world a better place and quit blaming others for our shortcomings. Always remember that change and making this world a better place begins with you and me.

Go Canes!!!

I'm good.. I don't have any white friends and don't want any.. I'm black and hang w blacks and a few Dominican guys. Playing football and baseball was the only time I was around white guys like that. I'm not one who thinks it should be always peaceful. Sometimes conflicts are needed to bring about a change.

I respect your opinion Bro.

If you're honest with yourself you know that racism in the country will probably never go away. whos fault is that? Look in the mirror. You aren't born racist. It's taught. You saw it here first hand on message boards when Shannon was the coach.

This whole kneeling thing is funny really. Standing for the flag wasn't high on people list of priorities prior to this guy taking a knee. He'll, the NFL didn't require NFL team to be on the field until 2009 when the depth. Of defense paid the NFL to appear more patriotic in order to garner interest for people to sign up.

Go to a game and what do you see? People walking around, some in the parking lot still tail gating, people ordering food, people BSing, sitting down etch all while the anthem is being played. Go to someone house or a bar no one ever stands for the anthem even if the network cares enough to show it. A guy takes a knee and all these part time patriots come out the woodwork
