I have read some posters complaining about it being a catch. Rashawn Scott and Al Golden both said it was a catch.

Welcome to the Dez Bryant/Calvin Johnson rule people, it hurt my Cowboys in the playoffs and it hurt the Canes in this game.

Definitely a rule that needs to be changed. The ground can't cause a fumble but it can cause a dropped pass. Weird logic.

That call was one of the few calls the refs got right. Unlike Dez, Scott wasn't trying to make a "football move" and dive for extra yards. Unlike CJ, Scott didn't come down with the ball then left the ball in the ground while getting up.. Scott's catch was like ASJ of the Bucs against the Saints

This is what it means to not put it in the refs hands. Textbook case. Good to see Scott finally healthy.

He took two steps and his knee came down inbounds that was a solid catch it even looked like he flipped the ball as if it where a common catch

Folks. It was a catch. Ref got it wrong. The dez rule isn't applicable in college ball. Ground can't cause fumble period...nothing about "football" move in college rules

Incomplete Pass
ARTICLE 7. a. Any forward pass is incomplete if the ball is out of bounds
by rule (Rule 4-2-3) or if it touches the ground when not firmly controlled by
a player. It also is incomplete when a player leaves his feet and receives the
pass but first lands on or outside a boundary line, unless his progress has been
stopped in the field of play or end zone (Rule 4-1-3-p) (A.R. 2-4-3-III and A.R.
7-3-7-I).
b. When a legal forward pass is incomplete, the ball belongs to the passing
team at the previous spot.
c. When an illegal forward pass is incomplete, the ball belongs to the passing
team at the spot of the pass (Exception: If Team B declines the penalty for
an illegal pass thrown from the end zone, the ball shall next be put in play
at the previous spot.) (A.R. 7-3-7-II-III).
Scott's catch should have been good.

When we played FLorida with JAcory the gator WR did the same thing and gave them a complete pass

Yep, watch it again, he never left his feet. So the two step, knee down should have counted as a catch.

It doesn't matter if he left his feet. He came down in-bounds. That's all that matters.

I remember that now...the game in Gainesville in 2008. We hung with them tight (I think it was 9-3 in the 4th quarter) and the refs reviewing the call of incomplete pass and giving them that catch was what essentially opened the floodgates in that game.

In my mind if you have possession of the ball and a knee down the play is dead. There should not have to be possession after that. The rule must be changed.

yeah it was a catch his knee was down and the ball was secure, play over. if your knee is down they dont allow the defense to strip the ball because at that point the play is over same should apply here

Supposedly if you leave your feet to catch the ball, you must maintain possession when you hit the ground -- at least that is how it was explained to me. That's why it was ruled incomplete. With that said, it's an idiotic rule. Why can the ground cause an incompletion but not a fumble?
