This is a solid list imo. Dantonio has made Michigan State into a real threat every year and produces some real quality defenses.

Harbaugh is back and people forget he was a quality coach at Stanford in a very short time.

Malzahn is my only questionable top 5, and it's not because he is not at that level, but because there are a few other coaches I think would be right with him. I think Petrino would be my 5. Other guys are Patterson, Briles, Pinkel and I think Mora could end up moving up this list, but he's not there yet.

Another one people have forgotten is Chris Peterson. You want to talk about a coach doing more with less, this is the definition of that while he was at Boise.
