Each week, the toughest game is always going to be the next game

If the team starts looking ahead, and beyond the very next game...that's exactly how we end up like FSU did against UVA.

UL is definitely the toughest game right now, especially coming out of a bye and big rivalry win against FSU on the road.

1. Louisville - the most talented roster we have left to face. Good scheme on offense
2. Pitt - on the road, last game of the year, in Pitt at the end of November... freshman QB looks legit. Reid is electric when healthy and some undersized speed guys at WR.
3. SMU - Jennings is good. Late enough in the year that Lashlee has nothing to lose and has a deep bag of trickery to pull from
4. NCST - CJ Bailey in his revenge game. Smothers is electric. Other than that, not much talent left there to worry about.

Syracuse isn't even a threat with Collins at QB. Might not win another game. VT and Stanford are putrid. Put all 3 of them in the same 5-7 bucket. VT fans won't even be showing up by 11/22 to make it a tough atmosphere.

Agreed.
Pitt really depends on where things stand. We're not rolling into Pittsburgh and getting surprised if we still have everything to play for.
SMU is kinda iffy IMO, they have some talent, but their lines will have a hard time holding up, hopefully Lashlee is busy packing for Arkansas!
1. Louisville
2. SMU
3. NCSU
4. Pittsburgh
5. Syracuse
6. VT
7. Stanford

Edit- road vs VT is now harder than home vs cuse with no QB and a team looking for revenge

OP needs to chill. Play one at a time and quit looking ahead. Lets learn from prior years and treat this year differently - because it is different. In so many ways. ONE GAME AT A TIME!!! fucc this look ahead B.S.

I agree. Everyone knows message board posters are the leading cause of poor performance on the field. I suggest everyone share their favorite recipe, and we can discuss that for the next few weeks.

Looking for a fire sourdough, if anyone's so inclined.

1. @ SMU. This is a slight edge over the next 3 because of the travel + opposing head coach + opponent’s QB.

2. @ Pitt. Again, context, but this one is a bit of a projection based on what I Think of their new QB that replaced Holstein. Likely cold weather game, 7th consecutive game without a bye and b2b road game is tough.

3. Louisville. Really 2b rather than 3rd. Arguably the best coached team of the top 3 on this list (between them and SMU), but we’re at home on a Friday coming off a bye (ya I know, they have one too). I just don’t see us allowing many points to this team with the extra time to prepare.

Tier 3:

4. NCSU. Meh. Maybe Bailey makes some plays to keep it interesting for a half but that defense sucks. I think our offense is hitting all cylinders at that point.

Next tier:

5. Syracuse. They’re totally neutered on offense now that Angelli is out.

6 @ VT. Zombie team. Think they’ve already had their dead cat bounce.

7. Stanford. Awful team. We could probably sleep walk through this one and win by 30.

TrumpyCane will say this again

We have had no trouble with Pitt at Pitt

Pitt is 1-8 their last 9 games at home against Miami (the one win being 2017)

Outside of 1 game in September, the games have been played Oct 30 or later

I put more onus on away games. I believe Louisville and SMU are just about the same but SMU being away worries me more.

I also believe NC State is probably better than Pitt but being away neutralizes that + the fact that it's the last game of the year.

1. @ SMU (3-2, 1-0)
2. vs. Louisville (4-1, 1-1)

You’re right that we’ve done well against Pitt in the past regardless of location.

Historically speaking as a program though, Pitt has scored upsets against top 3ish teams that the others haven’t. Not just our loss in ‘17, but when they beat Clemson who was undefeated in ‘16 (and went on to win the NC). Going further back I think of that time they beat WVU when they were #1 in ‘07.

Miami's biggest opponent is Miami. I know its an overused cliche, but the fact still remains that no one on this schedule should beat or come close to beating this team if they play 4 FULL QUARTERS OF FOOTBALL!!!!
