Look around- Georgia and Oregon have had nail biters. Bama needed 54 minutes to separate from USF.

- Miami’s brand is gold. The media is always looking for a new story. If we keep winning, playing the style that we are, it’ll be lights out coverage. As DMoney said about conference realignment, if we win everything takes care of itself. Curious to see the ratings.

- We’re not as deep as we hoped. Really missed Rivers, Bain and Damari. This is what happens in the Portal era. Even Kirby is crying about it.

- Guidry has an occasional clunker. Louisville last year. Defensive adjustments? Va Tech ran the same wide pitch all game. No adjustments. Guidry is so good at half time adjustments so it’s a head scratcher.
- And the blown coverages reminded me of year 1 vs MTSU.
- And the horrendous tackling.

- College coaches need time management help. Mario justifiably gets grief but you look around and most of the top coaches mismanage the clock.

- Running game made some progress. Was never worried about it after watching Michigan last year. They couldn’t run at all the first nine games then came alive for Penn State. If you have the line and backs you’ll figure it out.

- Kind of amazing the thin margins. If the bogus hold against Bell isnt called, it's 21-7 and a different game. (Although we were gifted some calls also)

- Malik Bryant- baller. Alston is nice but Bryant's athleticsm showed. He showed why he was a high 4 star who played at IMG (as a JR.) Two plays highlight the athletic differences- Alston completely whiffs on the early quarterback sack that would have forced a punt. Bryant makes the play on the fake FG.

- We need to upgrade the athleticism and get some of the other youngsters ready. Justin Scott just looked different. Let’s see what Zaquan, Jo Jo- other playoff teams feature freshmen WRs, Blount, Lofton among others can do.

- Arroyo and Horton need to be on the Hail Mary defense package.

Was at the game and able to view the entire field.

My opinion is that Guidry was far, far too aggressive bringing numbers against Drones. Drones is a 55% passer but athletic as ****. He isn't a guy you let run around and make plays against a defense that's loses contain. Drones is the the kind of QB you sit back, dare him to pick apart tight windows, and keep numbers on the defensive side rather than rush 5,6,7 defenders upfield that Drones is athletic enough to evade. This was my biggest frustration.

This play illustrates it. The situation was 3rd and nine at Miami 16. It was at Miami's end so not a lot pf room for Drones to operate. And we blitzed 7 and left the backend short of numbers. Drones made a great play, evaded the rush and found his guy in the EZ.

What was the point of sending seven guys on this play? What was Guidry hoping to achieve here? Sack Drones is the best case. So VT's excellent kicker has a 40 yarder rather than a 30 yarder. Not much of a win if you successfully sack Drones. What was the worst case? Worst case is that Drones would escape pressure and find a guy in the lightly defended EZ. Which is what happened. From a risk reward perspective I thought the decision to send seven guys wasn't smart.

And I'll add that bringing pressure virtually every play allowed #33 for VT to make long gains because our LB's were frequently rushing upfield

If was just this play, I'd chalk it up to misfortune. But Guidry did this all game. bottom line for me, I think we ran the exact opposite defensive scheme that should have been run against VT.And I'm a Guidry fan
