Random observations

The emotions of the game are real; no way Miami wasn't going to feel some form of a hangover after everything they put this offseason into beating Florida in the opener. Playing in a packed, hostile Swamp and then rolling back to lazy, half-full HardRock on Saturday afternoon—in a million years nobody is getting up for those two games the same way.

On a day when Northern Illinois upset Notre Dame in South Bend, Canes fans should be just fine with a 56-9 win over FAMU.

Bigger focus should be South Florida, which gave Alabama fits in Tuscaloosa—a five point game at 21-16 mid-fourth quarter until the Tide pulled away. Raymond James Stadium will be reach on September 21st—quickly game post-Ball State and a week before a Friday night showdown with Virginia Tech at home.
Man, I watched quite a bit of that game and that matchup will not be as easy as some think. South Florida has some legit size and physicality on the D-Line which really surprised me. I know some people saw the final score and might be thinking, “yea, sure”, but that game was 14-13 in the 4th until things fell apart.

I just want to remind you guys, that while I agree I would like to see a cleaner game from us, refs still suck ***. I know that's cliche but a lot of these dudes have a complex and need to assert their control at all times. There were quite a few games this weekend where there were over 20+ penalties in a game.

We just have to play well enough so that even multiple BS calls don't cost us a game.
I want to double down on this. They called ticky tack penalties against us, but didn't call a late hit when they tackled our player during a celebration after the whistle on an int.

I think a lot of us fans commented about the refs last week actually calling a good game

Sucks when it’s so noticeable that it stands out
I think refs get caught up in who is playing. It’s human nature.

UM v UF and they let the kids play
FAMU v UM and they call the game tighter.

The ones complaining about the run game don't have a clue. Seems like CIS is filled with these types.
I wouldn't say that. Bringing up valid observations and the concerns that stem from those is not complaining. I don't see anyone really complaining about the running game. I think there is a segment of the board of which I am a part of who believe the rushing attack has excellent potential but to this point has not reached said potential due to various factors. The running game improved tremendously in the second half vs FAMU. 38 carries for 225 yards at 5.9 ypc are excellent numbers but you have to take into account they came vs FAMU. The above stat line is one that I want to see in conference play. Not exactly like the above but in the general vicinity. I'm confident that the running game will get untracked.

Believe it or not this is by design. They are focusing on being a dominant passing attack and guess what it's working. They are one of the top in the nation. They also have a potent run game that has flashed and been dominant when needed.

That's an interesting take. The focus on being a passing team is very noticeable lol. Heck we have been awesome! Efficient and somewhat explosive for sure. So you are saying that being a passing team for now will eventually force teams to stop trying to shut down the run thus making it easier for us to run the ball later in the year when we may need it?

Well kind of. I'm saying we're a passing team that also runs well when it wants. If that makes sense. LOL 🤷‍♂️

Yeah I get you. I think Mario realized that we need to be a passing team who runs the ball as a change up instead of the other way around. Especially with Cam at QB.

Run stats are great; eyeball test not as much, but I just expected to see 4-5 backs run WILD for like 400+ - that's on me for being greedy.

This FAMU looked waaaay better than previous iterations - that stuck out to me - good for them - sersiously

They looked more like CMU or Toledo type teams and we still crushed them whilst playing sloppy youngs instead of what we've seen in the past.

Still team Piffledinger - was impressed with him more than I thought I would be. He's no replacement for Cam nor Emory, but I liked his style.

OL 2nd n 3rd string looked cheeks, but to others' point about wholesale sub of line will yield that - not freaking.

Basically happy to see younguns getting burn in all groups - impressedish overall.

Glad we were a bit sloppy and that FAMU came to play as best they could. Tiny bits of concern after UF, but that's the mope in me.

Once we're 7-0 and have gotten through USF, VT, Cal and UL - then I'll start to REALLY believe. Any one or all of those could be tough if we start piling injuries.

oh, Brown nearing bust territory for me - we have plenty of other options and don't want them to portal out. Sit his *** next week and let's see what JoJo, Carr, and the others can do. Gimme MOAR JG too.

Upon rewatch the 3rd team defense full of the freshman looked **** good . Lot of talent there and excited about those guys. Loved how the defense tightened up.

At 9:14 mark in the 3rd quarter
I must Say yes Jaden Harris makes some plays, but he has had 2 huge lapses In the run game vs uf and FAMU that has allowed for their biggest run all game. He has to tighten up and be more aware I mean the cb already saw it was a run and went flying in full speed, Harris should have saw that but he locks in on the receiver who is clearly out of the play and leaves a gaping hole in the middle of the defense .it was clearly a running play.

I want to see more of Zaquan Patterson in the first team Defense, that kid has it and looks locked in out there.

1:48:29 mark on the video

BINGO!! This is exactly why IMO and a big selling point to Cam when we were recruiting him.
Yea I’d assume that Mario made a commitment to Cam that he wouldn’t be coming here to hand the ball off 50 times a game and if he did come he’d have a chance to improve his draft status throwing the ball and Mario is keeping up his part of the bargain
