- From an X's and O's standpoint, the Blake Baker hire makes a lot of sense. He's familiar with Manny's system and has had pretty good success at La. Tech, and at a young age. Scheme aside, I think it's critical that this hire work out from a recruiting standpoint. Despite our success on the field this year, we had our assess handed to us on the trail, mainly due to all the issues we had on offense, so i'm interested to see how the 2020 class responds to the new hire and if he can inject some life and momentum there.

- On that topic, Manny is taking a huge gamble retaining the entirety of his defensive staff. It was crucial that he hired an experienced DC as opposed to leaving the responsibility to Patke and Banda, but I still have a lot of questions. How will Simpson's DL perform now that Willis and Joe Jax are gone? The same can be asked of Banda without JJ and Redwine. Will Patke start recruiting at a higher level to make up for his lack of coaching experience? Will Rumph finally start pulling his weight on the trail? Manny is hedging his bets on a group that will probably see a drop-off in production due to attrition. Should he have just hit the reset button? Time will tell.

- As for the OC hire, while I applaud the diligence Manny is doing and making sure he gets the right guy, this absolutely needs to get announced in the next 48-72 hours. While I've punted on 2019 recruiting, the main concern I have is in our QB room, and whoever gets the nod will need/want to bring in a grad transfer as quickly as possible ahead of spring practice.

- With the questions I have on the defensive side of the ball, I truly believe that our new OC needs to come in with enough experience to serve as the 'CEO', if you will, of the offense. This is one of the few correct decisions Richt made here (with Diaz) and the results obviously spoke for themselves. With Manny's background as a defensive coach, I'd imagine he will have little to no say when it comes to his offense, which is why I thought a former HC like Fedora or Applewhite made a ton of sense. I don't think someone like Brian Wright, Jeff Scott, Coley or even Fisch have garnered that type of trust.

- Finally, I can't begin to analyze or dissect the S&C hire, as myself and 99.9% of CIS posters are probably not even remotely qualified to do so. This is going to be Manny's most important off-field hire but I do like that (apparently) Geoff Collins tried to bring him to GT with him.

The OC search dragging on is starting to become a little concerning when you see the amount of coordinators & position coach hires being made across the country in the last several days. Perception whether true or untrue is Manny can't land the right hire the same way this staff can't land high profile south florida recruits.

Good analysis, the affermities of this team would vex an experienced HC.
Time will tell..

We dont know that the OC search hasn't been settled. It could be an Assistant from Clemson or Bama. Whether that is good or not is another issue as to whether we need a prior HC in that spot.

If there's no announcement after Tuesday/Wednesday then that could be pointing to an issue. Who really knows though except those involved.

Perception? CIS perception? National media perception? Player perception?

Me thinks the only ones clamoring for a decision are CIS posters.

I suspect we’ll fall back a little bit on defense, but let’s not forget we went from 70th to 20th on defense from 2015 to 2016. Going into 2017, we were concerned about whether or not Johnson and Redwine could replace Jenkins and Carter.

Gurvan Hall and Amari Carter will probably have some growing pains, but I think they’re talented enough to keep the secondary afloat.

Willis exceeded what McIntosh and Norton brought to the table.

We don’t have anybody that good on the roster, but there’s potential. Hopefully we get that UCLA grad transfer, and Nesta/Ford/Miller make a leap.

I want Manny to take enough time to get it right as well. However, time is of the essence with recruiting opening back up this week. Surely, Manny’s aware of this. What I hope is happening is that the OC is hired, they are assembling the rest of the staff, and will announce the entire staff Monday to steal some of the shine from the playoff. In other words, middle finger to Sabag and Diablo.

It's possible. I think if it was someone not in the final, it would've been announced. I'm guessing that's rhe holdup. Otherwise it could be pointing to staff assemblage capabilities.

All this speculation is KILLING me! Lol Could be one of a number of scenarios.

He's been on the job less than a week.
