Rainbow Warriors (Hawaii) vs. Bruins (UCLA)

It’s hard to tell what we have with UCLA. Because this Hawaii team might be really really bad.
People forget but they're almost always really bad. They put up a ton of points against garbage teams and therefore will sometimes have Heisman contender QBs just based on stats and once in a while they'll pump out a receiver into the NFL but year in year out they're pretty much garbage.

Yeah that’s probably pretty spot on. You think Hawaii, you think Norm Chow, June Jones, Timmy Chang, Colt Brennan (rip) And yes they put some players in the league, but overall other than that one year with colt Brennan where they played out of their minds, they’ve been pretty mediocre for the most part. Although I think they were middle of the road in the WAC.

But this particular team looks especially bad so far. No telling how bad they are.

So I don’t know how much of a measuring stick they are for UCLA and that’s really my point.

I think UCLA could be improved this year or they could suck balls. It’s hard to tell with this matchup.

Yeah I do think Chip actually has them going in the right direction finally. But it's hard to tell first this Hawaii team. They used to get a lot of academically questionable and character issue and under the radar Cali kids And I'm not sure they're getting a lot of those guys anymore.

UH had something brewing with Rolovich. I always wondered why more kids aren't lining up to play there. Yes you have to travel a long ways for road games but you get to live in paradise for free.

Two things. First, why doesn’t every high school kid take an “official visit” to Hawaii? ****, I would. Wouldn’t sign there, but I’d **** sure visit on their dime.

Second, how is Hawaii in a conference? What athletic director is signing up to send their women’s track team and men’s water polo to Hawaii every other year? Talk about massive amounts of long and expensive flights

They also have one of the better home field advantages, which can make them seem even better than they actually are any given year. They definitely don’t fair as well away from home.

Hawaii is also known to be good at home and ****e on the road—proven again here by a loss at the Rose Bowl.

UCLA isn't anything special, but to your point—this isn't one of those special Hawaii teams with some next level offensive mind and quarterback. Todd Graham has been a clown since he bailed Pittsburgh for Arizona State and failed miserably in Tempe. Also weird that Hawaii would reel in an defensive-minded head coach, when they've always succeeded with quirky offensive guys.

I heard from one of my Usos that played for Hawaii back in 2006 that Hawaii is well aware of this, and they only accept officials from serious recruits, meaning there’s been great dialogue between them & the recruit. Not sure if that’s changed, but I’m sure it probably hasn’t.
