@rustywalkedaway asked whether or not Mario is developing a pattern of stealing the top recruit from WA? I extended the question to be is his taking the top recruits from multiple states out west? How long will Mario's west contacts let him raid the west for top recruits each cycle? Time to check the past, monitor the present and look to the future to see if there's a long term pattern here

Thank you, but that is not what I addressed. The original post I commented on said Mario, at Miami, was establishing a pattern of getting the top Washington state recruit each year. That has not been the case and is not the current case.

As to Mario at Oregon, please check 247. In 2022 Mario got two of the top 5 Washington prospects. In 2021 - none of the top 10. In 2020 - one of the top 15. That boils down to one very good year, not a pattern of any kind.

Don't get me wrong; I posted about his success before. Mario is a recruiting stud and what he did, out of state at Oregon, was amazing. But the original post was about a current Washington state target and it morphed into Mario historically "locking down" Washington. My point was simply, no. That did not happen at Oregon and there is no "pattern" at Miami. Maybe one develops over time but what we have is one Washington dude, via IMG, now. I'm simply saying be realistic about what has, and has not, actually occurred.

Separately, I've also asked what you mentioned, how long will Mario's prior west coast contacts yield actual commitments? I have no idea. That's why I wonder. Only time will tell on this point. And by west coast I mean Washington, Oregon, and California. The latter may be misleading as there are simply so many Cali prospects that many leave the state, but I want to see how successful we are pulling WA and OR kids directly.

As to Nevada, particularly Bishop Gorman, I am unclear if any current Miami connection is due to this staff or the prior. Undoubtedly this staff has continued whatever we had, but it seems that we broke the ice with Brevin, and then Tate, under the prior staff. But maybe this staff has significantly improved whatever was there; again, I simply have no idea.

Understood the parameters of your post was just referring to Rusty posts where he mentions Brevin and Tate while wondering whether the Gorman connection is due to prior staffs. Bolden was also part of that.

  • Commitment is huge, Elija part of West Coast visitors group. Dylan Williams, Papa Afua, Brandon Baker, TA Cunninngham, Aylen Breland all going to be impacted by this commit
  • All part of a group that visited schools together
  • Miami is going to get the BULK of their elite recruits from the West Coast. Keep an eye on them

 
OP updated with the initial pass at Bishop Gormon athletes we're recruiting in the 25 cycle. Also, changed the sort order for the tables so the most recent year is on top.

I told ya’ll a while ago that So Cal players ain’t loyal when SC is down. We have the same issues out here, too, w/ hella players transferring to school after school b/c it be like that. Most of these kids don’t even live in the areas they play ball at.

I’m actually going to see Dijon & Husan this Friday as they play in playoffs (my lil homie is Husan’s teammate, & just got elevated to Varsity).

But yeah, they maybe slightly more loyal to SC than So Fla is to Miami, but not much. With kids getting bussed out, getting paid, schollies taken care of by these private schools, inner city schools that used to be powerhouses (Crenshaw. Dorsey, San Pedro, Carson, Banning) can’t compete any longer. Even LB Poly is now struggling & had to drop down.

That mentality has now transferred over to their college decisions. ****, DeShaun Foster saw my lil homie, & this jit was all UCLA since Pop Warner, but now w/ other schools coming to see Husan (trying to flip him), he’s caught some eyes & he just told his dad he’s outta here on the gang. Lol

The big bag chasing out here, too.

Mario Cristobal is proven to be one of the best recruiters of the West Coast while at Miami....Period. Point Blank....showing that Miami is going to get who they want on the West Coast or at least battle for it.​

Id imagine the push here is due to Whittingham is gone from Utah and these were his type of players, which aren't far off from Mario.

These players would raise the floor or our classes and typically are lower rated but play beyond their ranking.

He goes across the country wherever he perceives a coaching weakness or a program that has a geographical territory.

That could be one of the factors but I think it’s a combination of things with this particular class. In 2028 Utah has more top players than usual and none of these four are “lower rated”. Three of them are trench players with Tonato as the #1 overall OL in the class who Mario is always going to recruit, two others are top 100 and Fano who Mario recruited his older brother is the lowest rated at #154 on the composite. Also, Tua’one the only skill player is originally from Miami and his dad is an Alumni.
