Unless there’s a reason like redshirts at risk, no way he should start over other guys we have.

The two alternated possessions, so there wasn't a redshirt at risk. Also, Mccoy played almost every single game this season. I couldn't tell you why he didn't start. My only guess is that Miribal/ Mario wanted to give these guys the message that there will be open competition and no spot is guaranteed.
