Quote from Barry Jackson Article

All these fat greaseballs think about is weight. More tells nag than the weight comment was the one about him being strong at the point of attack.

Jackson is a run and chase guy not a pattycake block absorber. He's a freakish athlete who should be a 15 sack guy. Instead, the greaseballs are focused on bloating him up to be a block absorber.

It's hilarious that an NFL team found a use for Bruce Irvin, who was lighter as a rookie in that league than Jackson is right now.

What the f*ck is up with this staff's obsession about bringing up players' weights? They do realize the goal is to win football games, not creating future Biggest Loser contestants, right?

Have you seen Al and Mark? Clearly they think fat slobs make best coaches, so why not players. They like fat and slow, ideally without talent.

personally, i think franklin was a bigger problem than our s & c program. kids didnt improve under him at all.

Maybe, just maaaaaaybe Franklin was teaching the technique Golden and No D wanted to fit their horrendous scheme. He did get picked up by the Raiders as a DL Coach did he not? I know Oakland is a horrible franchise right now but nonetheless. IMHO, he was teaching what he was told to teach, being handcuffed in the process. It will be no different with Melvin unless the abomination above him changes their philosophy which is not likely.

Speed Kills...Our defensive players from years gone by were DB's converted to LB's..We converted LB's into DE's..Heck Dwayne (Rock) Johnson came to us as a FB/RB and gained enough weight to play tackle at 275/280.Darrian Krien and Rusty Medaris were two of our fastest and quickest DE's playing at 250 converted from LB's..Cort Kennedy, Jerome Brown, big and fast-- Russell Maryland and Warren Sapp smaller and fast. They all played under 300 except Kennedy..The 4/3 was anchored by tackles that were after anything that moved in the backfield and supported on the outside by fast DE's and faster LB's. Danny Stubbs-Kenard Lang-Clias Campbell were undersized but played fast. I guess something was wrong with that philosophy as we get further and further to the slow 3/4 guys who are waiting on the LB's to make plays. It doesn't take a J. Johnson, Dennis Erickson,B.Davis or even Larry Coker to see that Thomas, Jackson, AQM, McCord and Harris need to be allowed to put on the afterburners..These players are as good and possibly better than our cherished memories of players from yesteryear...It's all about the scheme and the coaching, both suck.......

"Demetrius has done some good things,” defensive coordinator Mark D’Onofrio said this offseason. “He’s very talented, has gained about 25 pounds since he got here. He’s strong at the point of attack."

Seriously they will never learn or adjust. Let's pack weight on everyone and then the NFL will slim them down because they are retarded and obviously don't get it that your DE's are supposed to be slow, fat, patty cake playing ****s.

Jesus these guys drive me up a **** wall.

I go back and forth on this topic honestly. I look at Bama's guys and they look massive and are obviously putting on weight and muscle. Seems to work out for them. But I do want the edge guys to have that speed. Ideally they'd be like Sapp and be big and have that get off the ball speed, but few are like that. I do think he needed some weight though, he was super skinny.

Bama recruits different players... Most of their players come in with bigger frames... Bama may bring 240 pound DE's and 230 pound line backers...

I agree with the sentiment here, however...

I can't help but remember that, years ago (under Randy, at least), so many people were constantly *****ing about our players being so small. It was a running theme for a long time. People were always saying 'look at the SEC's players, or players on almost any other team for that matter...theye look HUGE compared to us! We're so SMALL it's ridiculous!!"

I think it's a good weight versus bad weight issue, really. But I'm just sayin'. Be careful what you wish for.

I still think we have that issue; see Jermaine Grace, Stacy Coley, etc.

You think Jackson is a 15 sack guy this season?

Reviews have been very positive with Jackson. But he has only played one year of high school and has been a practice squad guy so far. Does anyone know if these positive reports are based on his strong development since his arrival, or is it that he will be playing a significant role in our defense? I agree with your sentiment that he is a run and chase guy, and I personally will not be able to tolerate another overweight DE player that becomes a D'No or Golden scheme sacrifice.

Weight is important as **** in football, but each player's body is unique and has it's own ideal size for peak performance. Too bad Golden is clueless in this department (ie: Chickillo).

Goldenofrio have a required quota of phrases involving player weights to use in each and every interview.

God made man in his image, Golden is trging to do the same. If your gut is not as big as mine , ur not playing

Coach Beamer a couple years ago commented on how slow our defense was and this in my opinion was that there was too much emphasis on weight gain for the darn scheme.
