2027 Quinton Cypher 4* LB from Raleigh, NC (Millbrook HS) Commits to OSU

Luke Fahey has never started a game in college and looked unprepared in his 0/2 effort in relief of Sayin to ice the game against Indiana.

Sayin is basically throwing jump-balls for Smith to rescue them in competitive games; so, respectfully, where is this confidence to win out coming from?
I'm not confident. But their schedule isn't tough and Sayin wasn't really a difference maker. If all Sayin had to do was throw jump balls to JJ, doesn't that kind of prove the point? Can't a backup QB do that too?

I don't think you can say this with a true freshman QB making his first start.

if difference in coming from off the bench in a close game against that kind of defense opposed to having a week to prepare and having those playmakers on the offensive side of the ball. Like you noted all that sayin really has to do is just throw it up. Nothing about him is unique in that. Top that off with maybe northwestern being the only good team they actually play. Michigan does have a **** good defense though so can't discount them especially in the big house I believe.

It's in the shoe.

And I push back somewhat on the good team thing. If Sayin was healthy, I'd agree with you. But if they get average to below average QB play, their schedule gets tricky.

@ USC
vs Oregon
vs Northwestern
@ Nebraska
vs Michigan

Are any of those teams really good/have more talent than Taint? Obviously not. But if your QB goes out there and stinks up the joint, that levels the playing field bigly. I literally wouldn't be surprised if they lost any of those games, assuming the QB is a significant downgrade. If you think Fahey is basically a wash with Sayin, then yeah you should expect them to win at least 4 of those games. But they're less than a TD favorite this week against a team everyone on Earth has written off as one of the worst teams in the country. Hmm. If Fahey struggles, even if they win, what do you think the line would be next week in the Shoe vs Oregon? I'll bet it's under a TD too. Northwestern...maybe 7-8? @ Nebraska will be under a TD. Michigan with that defense will be under a TD.

I'm not sure they win 5 straight games with a backup QB that will almost certainly all be single-digit spreads. I think they lose 2 of these, actually.

100%

This wasn't lost on me; very much like Emory vs Iowa St. in the bowl game a couple years ago.

That said, if their offense resorted to jump-balls when everything in playbook was available for a multi-year starter, I wouldn't expect a true freshman to compete at a high level with a more limited play-sheet. Their preparation, coaching, and execution will have to be top-shelf moving forward for them to have a chance at running the table. Cardale Jones ain't walking through that door.

Miami got Cypher on campus for an unofficial visit last weekend when the top-ranked team in the country beat Pittsburgh. 247Sports spoke with Quinton's dad this week for the latest on his son's recruitment and status as a Buckeyes commitment with the early signing period is nearly a month out.

Here's the gist:
Cypher remains committed to Ohio State and will return to Columbus on Nov. 7 for the Oregon game and again for the regular season finale against Michigan. So the Buckeyes are getting him on campus twice again before the early signing period (Dec. 2).

— The Cypher family thinks especially highly of Buckeyes linebackers coach James Laurinaitis. Quinton's relationship with Laurinaitis is as strong as it gets between coach and prospect.

— Miami staffers texted Mr. Cypher within seconds after Quinton announced his pledge to Ohio State last December, and their message was: "This isn't over, this is a marathon and not a sprint." The Hurricanes have held true to their word and haven't stopped recruiting Quinton. They wanted to get him on campus back in the spring or the summer, and when that didn't happen, Quinton elected to visit Miami for a game day.

— Bottom line, two more November visits to Columbus likely lends to odds being firmly in favor of the Buckeyes when he signs. Miami hasn't given up and kudos to the Hurricanes for getting him back on campus. But there's plenty of more work for Miami to do if a flip is to occur.

Maybe...but the meatball they have can't even throw a dump pass, he doinked his tackle in the back of the head trying 😆 😂 🤣

I don’t know why anyone listens to this piece of garbage. He is a morally depraved human. From sheltering psychopaths on his team so he would win, to openly cheating on his wife.

As a lawyer you should be able to separate the message from the messenger.
