Hotel wise - I would recommend looking south of downtown in the SouthPark area, Ballantyne and even go into Fort Mill, SC which is about 25 minutes to the stadium. Concord and the University Area are both going to have chain restaurants mainly and nothing really to do as far as night life goes and really no good restaurants. I would avoid Huntersville; traffic construction on I-77 is a nightmare right now. FYI the airport is about 20-25 minutes to all these areas.
Plenty of great places to eat whatever your tastes so this is just a sampling; I have been to almost all of these places. I avoided listing chains such as Ruths Chris, Del Friscos, etc.
