Questionable roughing the passer call completely changed the game

Up until that moment, Miami was in complete control offensively and looked like they were on their way to a blowout. The fumble would have given Miami the ball at the its own 37 with a red hot Mensah coming off 23 consecutive completions. Miami scores there and it’s 38-7. Game over. Instead, Wake gets the ball, scores on that drive, and suddenly Miami’s offense completely stalls.

That was such a massive game swinging moment. For 2 and 1/2 quarters, this team was playing championship level football and looked completely in control.

One questionable call completely flipped the momentum and changed the entire game.

The old ACC special. People will point to the total penalty numbers and say look, Wake had more than Miami. It was fairly officiated. Yet they probably could have called 5-6 more consequential holding penalties on Wake that either extended drives or led directly to points

No different than Louisville last year where we ended up having the same or less penalties than them. But the first half we got jobbed multiple times letting them get up by 14.

Make up calls, tilting the scale, etc. some one commented last night that the roughing was Vegas calling in.

And what kind of half *** conference doesn’t have better film on their WR being out of bounds. Just some grainy still that looks like I took it with my Nextel 25 years ago.

Get us the **** out of this trailer trash conference.

Wilson still made more good plays than bad. He had a sack, drew a holding call in the end zone that caused a safety, and had a lot of pressures. He is getting there. The defensive line in general is improving.

I don't disagree with this at all. He did play well. I'm just saying a guy with that much experience should know better than to even give the refs the opportunity to make that call on the roughing the passer. That would have been back breaking for wake. And to jump that far offsides on a hand clap on 4th and 7 is no bueno. He didn't even have his hand in the ground.
 
Miami plays with a certain type of aggression that other teams don’t play with. Sometimes that’s the cost. I can live with it because if the call doesn’t happen (he doesn’t get that call at Hard Rock, promise you), the game was over. We would have scored and made it 38-7 and everyone would be talking a lot differently. We’re gonna be fine. We have a great team. Soon as we figure out the IOL, we’re good to go.
 
Once you lose momentum on the road in college, it’s hard to get it back

When we went 3 and out for the second time, they really put the defense in a tough spot

Overall the defense did well considering they were on the field non stop in the second half. Which is why comparing this to the 2024 defense is foolish

They played most of the 2nd half and gave up only 13 points to a pretty **** good offense. We gotta give Wake some credit. They’re definitely a 9-10 win team in my book. Wouldn’t shock me if they rematch us in the ACC championship, even. Those guys played hard.
