Question on McCloud

The hit in Suratt turned out to be a double negative. First the BS penalty. Second it knocks Surrat out of game. We were not ready for the type of game the backup brought to the table.

The hit on the QB that McCloud had was great - and legal.

I hope that the refs are replaced in the future with technology 100% of the time. That would remove biases from calls such as that.

The hit that knocked the qb out was absolutely clean. It was a vey late flag. I don't think the flag would have been thrown if the qb got up quickly.

The hit late in game is going to get called 90% of the time. Gotta pull up.

I thought they should have called late hit on carter when he hammered the qb on throw back play.
Your right I said Pinckney but it was Carter

He was delivering some shots yesterday I’ll give him that lol, seriously though I and I’m sure many other cane fans have been down on mccloud this year. Hope he breaks out of it. We know he has the ability it just hasn’t been evident this year. I’m very pleased with the backup linebacker play though especially darrion Owens and Charles Perry for the most part
A year or two from now I think we look back on this and chalk it up to his progression. He's a beast and obviously talented. Just seems to be thinking too much and playing frustrated.

Or he lacks the instincts to play the position. He’s still young so we don’t know, but Perry has been the better player lately and they can only waste so much time waiting on McCloud. Right now he looks like a contributor but somebody without the instincts to be a good linebacker. If he were lower rated and not so physically gifted (like knowles for instance) people would want him out.

Classic refs playing the result. Neither are even close to penalties. McCloud launches for 11 before he starts going out of bounds. He doesn't know if the guy is going to trying tip toeing the sideline or not. And he hasn't even stepped out before contact is made.

Two good clean football plays from McCloud.

The first one (above): I think he hits him as his foot goes out of bounds. McCloud definitely left his feet before the QB touched the ground (out of bounds).

The second one: I thought was clean.

Here's the thing though, we can disagree with it, but the first one is called pretty consistently throughout football. Teams may **** and moan about it, but more often than not it's called. The second one like I said, a ref should be reprimanded or either suspended. That was bull.

I get the first one, it is called a lot.

I just think the first one was pretty close. Do you agree that McCloud left his feet before the QB touched the ground out of bounds?

The first one in this picture is legit roughing. He could have pulled up on the sidelines. The 2nd one is BS. That was a legal hit and is just showing the pussification of the refs. Pretty soon they'll all be playing patty cake with each other or get flagged.

I think the first one is a reaction to the Rodgers injury - that was a clean hit, technically.

We're getting to the point where you're not allowed to hit QBs. Which is what it is.

Oh I totally agree. Just saying we're really wasting our time trying to justify whether it's legal because that hit is called a penalty the majority of the time. Maybe I'd be mad about that call 10 or so years ago. Now? No way. The player has to know and adjust. Situational awareness.

Mccloud is having a sophomore slump. He has caused many long runs and touchdowns. Not the sure tackler he was last year and having problems coming off blocks

Owens seem better in run support and Perry better in pass support. I would severely cut down on McCloud's snaps at this point

Then they need to call one where Rosier is flung to the ground when we're at their 33 late in the 3rd up 17-13. We proceeded to get sacked twice in a row and not get it on 4th down. The announcers, of course, were begging (literally begging) the refs not to throw the flag. We would have a first down at their 18.
