Do you want Diaz coaching linebackers, or would you like to see Richt get a different LB coordinator?

Feel free to discuss the positives and negatives of both scenarios...

It's going to have to be Diaz. Hiring separate CB and S coaches means there's only 2 spots left. We still have to fill WR and TE, with one of those coaches serving as co-OC opposite Thomas Brown.

Diaz basically ensured that no one will be able to challenge him with his complete abortion zone defense. Hiring two rookies for the secondary and coaching LBs yourself guarantees that.

I'll give it to him, he's like his dad, very smart politician. I'll see ya'll next December when you all get to see what a disastrous mistake this is.

I think we're at 9, of the 10, already ...

Richt 1
Richt 2
Searels
Brown
Hartley
Diaz
Kool
Banda
Rumph

Only room for 1 more coach.

Looks like Hartley or Richt 2 will be working with the TEs.

Unless J. Richt isn't in a full coaching position, we only have room for one more...likely a WR coach.

Jon Richt is being brought in as an assistant that won't count against the cap. Meaning he's not a position coach.

with the way that texas has been struggling under strong, herman was out the second houston offered him a raise. he's biding his time for the longhorns gig and is already building relations with texas high schools for a strong recruiting base. he was never a realistic option.

for the record, herman was #1 on my wishlist as well.

why always looking to put down everything , you are either a very needy person looking for attention or just an egotistical person who has no humility or good will. Putting down every post tells me you are NOT a canes fan and I will not fall into your constant negativity

While I concur I did not particularly like the Diaz hire I give CMR an A+ on Rumph and a safeties coach. The safety position been a dumpster fire since when guys? Randy Phillips? Merriweather? Rumph will be a savage recruiter as well. I didn't think that Scott should return as interim coaches can result in some discord among players.

I knew he would catch on somewhere quickly. I still don't get John Lilly ? Doesn't like South Florida? Does he prefer trailer parks and cars on cinder blocks?

The DBs coach is more important for recruiting and the DC is essential obviously for formations and stunts. I like the Rumph hire based on recruiting and do not like the Diaz hire. Hope Coach Kool's DLine can get to the QBs!!

I hope you're right. He is the age of a typical GA, so that would make sense.

I agreed w you.... until I took the time after reading FullyErichts posts to watch some of Diaz' game films. If Diaz hasn't evolved in terms of how his DBs operate, it'll be a long year.

I will choose to believe he's evolved.

not to give you a hard time or anything but Diaz wasn't coaching Mississippi State that year. It was Geoff Collins (the gators DC). Diaz took over after the year was over and only coached for them in 2015. also 8 of those starters were not on the team the following year.

although fwiw, diaz's unit finished 9th in the same category and ran a similar scheme though so may be worth watching

ya no problem i heard diaz talking about that when he came back it was pretty much the same defense he helped install nice to see them all running to the ball and attacking
