Sad part is Miami’s WR’s are woefully underutilized. In 6 games Miami has completed 88 passes; that’s less than 15 per game (averaging 27 passes/game).
16 - Thomas … 15 - Harley … 15 - Jordan … 12 - Cager … 9 - Langham … 4 - Hightower …2 - Ezzard … 1 - Polendey … 1 - Wiggins … 1 - Mallory … 0 - Pope
- Elijah Moore has caught 11 passes (2 TDs) and Anthony Schwartz has caught 8 (2 TDs). Both true freshman receivers have individually caught more than Ezzard, Wiggins, Mallory, Pope and Hightower - combined! I didn’t include their running plays.
- Ole Miss has completed 131 passes and Auburn has completed 103. (Use that for reference for those visiting the recruiting thread talking about receivers considering Ole Miss or Auburn...)
- every SEC team except TN, AR and KY have completed more passes than Miami; 9 SEC teams have over 100 completions.
- UNC has 82 completions; Duke, Pitt and Miami are tied with 88 completions every other ACC team except GT has more completions with FSU completing 38 more balls than Miami.
But not to worry, the next time you see Miami start a drive with 2 interior run plays for little or no yardage you can feel heartened by Richt’s commitment to establishing the run. And that “best WR room in the country”? That’s where the trophies are kept because the offense isn’t getting them the ball.
