Question for DMoney…Jasen Lopez

I like Lopez and think he'll be good for them. But apparently Jai didn't think much of him as a basketball recruit and doesn't like the idea of dual sport guys overall, the vast majority of whom get to college and realize it's not gonna happen. I bet Lopez ends up picking one, probably football. Charlie Wards are a rare breed.

So the report of Lucas offering him as well were mainly fluff or just like ehhhh we'll give you a shot/while FSU's hoop offer was more convincing they really want him?

Notwithstanding Dade County’s Cuban version of Hutu Radio, the cis podcast with WR takes brought to you after a six pack of Buzzin, Spafford is a better take at the position. Spafford is an agartha all-American and moves like his blood is pure white monster energy drink. Coach knew the risk was we’d only get one and went with an elite speed and space dude in Spafford.

Russell is 6’5” so he at least has God given physical tools to work with that could help him at basketball and football.

But I don’t understand how a 5’11” kid thinks he can be a difference maker at the D1 bball level unless he’s a truly extraordinary talent. I’m guessing he’s actually closer to 5’10” so his only shot is at PG.

And unless he’s a Latino Allen Iverson, he can forget about it. He may be quick, athletic with decent handles and an outside shot, but that 6’4” PG who is just as athletic will eat him alive.

he has played in dade county his whole career.

from looking at his trajectory in bball he seems to be a real mid major prospect type of kid at 5'10.

the reall bball guys may can attest to him on the court. @King of Allapattah

Lopez is a low to mid major basketball prospect. Lopez is a skilled PG with good athleticism but because of his size just don't see how he's any kind of contributor at fsu. Maybe in a few years, but just don't see it happening in year 1 or 2 for that matter.

Russell isn't as skilled, but because of some of his physical traits as an 8th grader, rising freshman he had the potential to develop into a big time prospect. However, he seems to have shifted most of his focus on football and rightfully so. Russell is a solid player, but has a longer way to go if he's going to see the court at Syracuse. One of the top seniors in the county, but I'd be hard pressed to say he's one of the top 10 players overall, regardless of class.

It would behoove both of them to maintain football as their priority and keep hoops on the back burner. It's no coincidence that both generated interests and their P4 offers for football and not basketball. That's where they butter their bread.

Make no mistake about it, the fsu hoops offer came as a favor to Norvell. Nothing less. Nothing more.

I'd be hard pressed to think the fsu staff sees Lopez as any kind of contributor. If he weren't playing football, he'd be closer to being a PWO than a high major basketball recruit in the ACC. Same would hold true had he signed with Miami.

We have 3 WRs committed better than Lopez just fyi
Syracuse has a ridiculous number of players in the wide receiver room. Unless they have mass transfers out it is going to be fascinating to see how it works. They had six wide receivers in their class this week.

I don't care how good he is at hoops. The kid is 5-*******-10.

The NBA is so size focused now that he's literally too small to even play there. We've seen hoopers like Kennedy Chandler, Sharife Cooper and Markquis Nowell that were DAWGS and literally couldn't last because they were too small. All 3 of them are ****ting on Jasen as a basketball player. Chris Paul and Kyle Lowry are likely among the last of that small PG era we will see in the league. Fred Van Vleet is lasting because he's a deadly shooter, something that Jasen is not. Man if this kid don't get the **** on and run some routes lmao

He would just be organizational depth here. A practice squad guy who could make a move for playing time in his third or fourth year.

Doubt that although I may agree not 1st year as s frosh

Gogeta and others have been telling us about him abusing kids at camps and on the field since like 8th or 9th game.

Then he should have no problem dominating at FSU.

Where’d you read that? Cuz that doesn’t bode well for us and Ahmad Hudson lol

He just may…What's your point?
I made my point in the post you originally quoted. But if you want me to repeat it, it’s that this kid would be the #4 WR in our class at best. The quality of our roster and our recruits is significantly higher than FSU’s .
