Question about our defensive scheme

I dont post too much on here, mostly just use the site for recruiting news, but SIAP — why do our guys try and go underneath every block on the perimeter? It seems like every outside run/bubble screen/etc - the dude who should be forcing it back inside goes underneath the block, takes himself totally out of the play, and easily allows the ball carrier to get outside. Don’t understand the logic of this, and it happens EVERY game - which leads me to believe that it’s being coached that way. Can anyone elaborate?

Simply put, our guys aren't good enough to straight up beat their man one on one. So they use a stunt or twist to try and confuse the OL and get pressure up field. This at times allows runs inside or outside to look easy.

If you're going to do this, you need a cleanup crew behind them. The linebackers have yet to show they can get outside as they lack speed to do so against quicker backs. Good teams have them getting up field in where the gaps will be or even leaning outside if the end is coming inside.

I have felt for a long time that the DE's are out there freelancing a lot of the time.

Manny likes to pressure the QB. The big problem with this, in particular when you face a team like Bama is they bet on where those holes will be and exploit them. Manny doesn't believe in gap integrity, fill space with bodies, so he tries to be cute with movement and typically a blitz from somewhere.

also how about personnel.
why do they play a kid in ivy that single handily cost us games for 3 years? he was in on 3 td scores yesterday.
why do they play ford still?
etc.

Supposedly Ford had a good Spring and Summer, too.

This scheme is all over the place. Great coaches scheme up to take away the thing you are good at and live with the consequences.

What did we take away from bama?

There were several plays where we lost before the ball was snapped which has been a consistent theme with manny’s defense (I remember a run play bama had like three guys blocking the edge and we only had one defender; I wanted to throw my remote). Can’t wait until we get the play analysis.

They were able to get 5-8 yards at will on quick throws to WRs because they had two guys blocking one. Notice when we did it against bama we may have picked up 3-5 (which was successful) but it was mostly minimal gain.

Look at how bama lines up versus how we line up. They are fundamentally sound and there are no obvious weaknesses you can attack pre snap.

Yeah we do a horrible job on those plays. Watching Alabama,Georgia and Clemson yesterday and seeing how they play it is so much better. Could we just do that Manny. We usually have one guy there who gets blocked to easy and another that's too far off. You can play off. Those teams do also but they're anticipating that play and come up fast with bad intentions. We did the same play with Mallory blocking and he was destroyed by branch and he also made the tackle. Our corner out there needs to be far more aggressive in attacking the blocker and the safety needs to anticipate and attack. Just like all our missed tackles we take bad angles and end up flailing.

Every other team blows up the blocker and tackles our guy. We can’t manage to even attempt the same. We look like we want to be blocked. Meanwhile manny having the time of his life on the sideline jerking himself off to his free releases and ****** zone blitzing
