Quarterfinal No. 2: Texas Tech vs Oregon

This is more about how awful Tech looked that how good Oregon looked. Honestly both teams look like they have tons of exploitable weaknesses and left impressed with neither. Tech just didn't look like they even belonged--like a JV team. Oregon might go the next week thumping chests but they beat an awful Tech team that looked small--nothing that Oregon really schemed up to make the game scoreless. idk, maybe a hot take but jury is still out on Oregon when put up against an actual team with a pulse.
Agree 💯
TT was unprepared on O

Oregon is NOT impressive
I’d be surprised if they can beat either IND or Bama
And if they do
Miami gonna shove it up their asses in spades

Oregon is good, but I don't think they are great. The Texas Tech offense was terrible. They gifted Oregon field position with turnovers. Oregon basically only score 16 in this game in getting 4 turnovers.

The turnovers are the same reason I didn't think Texas Tech was very good. They lived on turnovers for field position all season. If they don't get turnovers they struggled. I think the same is true for Oregon. They struggled offensively at times during the season.

This gsme was a level down from what we saw in Miami vs Ohio State.

That’s a fair assumption. But CFB is all about matchups. Their up-tempo offense concerns me somewhat. We haven’t done well consistently against teams that pick up the pace. Would be an absolute war

as someone else said- uptempo is a double edged sword. You really want to go fast and not give your OL a chance to adjust line calls for Mesidor and Bain? Ok. Good luck with that. If all it took was picking up the pace to beat Miami, every team on the schedule would have done it.

Imagine being Oregon. Got to hang out in SoFla weather, then you got to fly back and hang out in this bull**** until Atlanta next week.

Also want to add- Ohio St going faster in 2nd half isn’t what got them back in the game. Jeremiah smith is why they got back in the game. Without him it doesn’t matter if they were moving near light speed, it would have just meant more TOP for Miami since Ohio St would have punted more. Sayin hardly made any surgical throws that scared me, he just threw the ball up and let Smith go get it.

Ryan day just going away from Jeremiah smith is more egregious than Mario not taking a knee

I don’t think he went away from him. Miami covered him pretty well most of the game and the pass rush got to Sayin quickly. Sayin saw Smith was covered and Sayin got nervous - he knew he didn’t have time to find his next read. Heatherman went to soft coverage coming out of the half after Smiths big play in the 2nd quarter. He wasn’t going to let Ohio St get any explosives. They had to score on 10-11 play drives that ate up tons of time.

and to keep it 100- if the anti-Miami SEC refs are calling a fair game, those drives are stopped by egregious holding by the Ohio st OL and repeated OPI by their WRs. It’s easier to score when the refs swallow their whistle and let Ohio St cheat.

So there was no coaching malpractice by Day. Miami just had the better team.

Ya, Smith is insane. Almost had 200 yards receiving and that’s with us game planning to stop him. He was their entire offense, outside of a couple of cool gap-scheme runs they designed in the 3rd quarter.

You couldn’t pay me to live up in NW
I used to travel there for work periodically and in the winter
The **** rain clouds are like ten feet above you and you never see the sun
It’s a miserable place
And the women….yuk
Hairy, no make up…trust me when I tell you that the Oregon cheerleaders and dance team are ALL SoCal imports
