Quarterbacks

As pointed out in another thread by someone else utilizing Bama as an example, a strong O-line is possibly more important than the best QB in the nation. Give an above average or better QB 5+ seconds to stand untouched, they will all pick you apart.
Clemson's problem right now, their new QB has no time to throw before folks are on him.

Clemson's O - Line has always been below average. Look at their draft history for OLineman. They've had 5 O Lineman drafted in the last 10 years. For 5 straight NFL drafts (2015-2019) not a single Clemson OL was drafted. During that 5 year span, Clemson lost 5 games and won 2 Natties. Thanks to Deshaun Watson, Kelly Bryant, and Trevor Lawrence. Also thanks to the screen heavy offense they've ran that helped their OL not get attacked as hard all game long.

I really liked the way they used Etienne to get him the ball in space...wish Lashlee would take a page out of that playbook for Rooster

Bama's 2018 team had 3 QBs that are starting on NFL teams right now. We haven't had 1 in over a decade.

I mean, the team with the best QB usually wins. That's kind of the name of the game. It's a team game and obviously a lot more goes into it, but that's a pretty good and obvious rule of thumb.

The top 11 QBs in the country in passer rating right now are a combined 61-14. This isn't real complicated.
Funny, I watched Archie Manning (outstanding qb) get the shtt beat out of weekly with the Saints. Never made the pro bowl or any awards. Top flight qb

And it'll work again when they reload on the athletes, which they inevitably will.

As long as Venables is there, they have hope.
A good D will always keep you competitive for a championship.
Offense is always easier and quicker to fix.

Exactly - Too many jokers that don't get it, that don't understand the grass isn't always greener. There are some cons but overall as a program, way more pros and the right direction.

Manny needs one more year, but needs to hire D coordinator. He's not a good enough coach to handle dual responsibility.
WHERE THE FVCK IS TGE MIDDLE FINGER EMOJI ALREADY

In today's game those with great success have solid performing QB's. It has always been true but even more important today. Lawrence leaves Clemson and look at them now, they had all their eggs in one basket and he certainly isn't a Lawrence. LSU had one phenomenal season with Burrow and now the coach sucks, everything is in disarray. Secondary to having a great QB is having and OL that will give him protection. We have a legitimate QB now, I hope we concentrate on building a solid OL. As a matter of fact, our QB room is in great shape, I hope our fans consider this when suddenly an Ogeron and Swinney are on their hot seats even with a plethora of 5 stars.
This is why I say never hire a up and coming coach based of off 1 qb. Make him develop 2. Then hire him.

Yes a dynamite future NFL QB is critical it is not the most important component. Dorsey was not some ultra special future stud. He was tad bit above average but his OL and other components were special. If we can somehow keep putting out an above average QB and OL along with a sprinkle of LB talent and coach competence we may win 10 games again one day. I can daydream can't I?

The coaching at LSU sucked b4 Burrow. They got lucky they had an oc with an nfl playbook...considering they have had high nfl skill positions on offense for YEARS and couldnt do anything

-Clemson has had MULTIPLE qbs other than Lawrence perform well in Dabo's gimmick scheme...not sure whats there problem this year on offense as i havent watched much of them...but I wouldnt bet on the qb being the main issue.

I catch a few games here and there....

DJ has been pretty bad, I do think he is issue 1A by a pretty good margin. Other than that, they have been hit by the injury bug big time, they were down 18 scholarship players by the end of the Pitt game, they also have missed on some OL evals and had to shuffle things around, again, OL always hard to predict and some "top" guys are not "developing" like they should, WR are still aight but they have had the injury bug and again DJ is slow to process, slow to pull the trigger, and is not hitting guys in stride.

They also have Will Shipley getting starter reps and I think they need someone to spell him, every game I watch he is slow to get up on a few plays, limping, clearly not 100% but is gutting it out. They lost 5* Demarkus Bowman to the portal last year, obviously lost All ACC back Etienne. The rest of the RB room is dogsh!t...

They have Tirsten Rigby (walk on),

Kobe Pace, SO, had 75 yards has a freshman, has 300 yds this year with 3 TD was a low 3* out of GA HS;

Darien Rencher; RS 6th year SR; Former walk on, think he has a scholarship now, basically their Jimmy Murphy.

Phil Mafa; FR, nice potential back, top 200 player, has 171 yards on the year but still very green

Wise Segars: FR walk on

Kevin McNeal: FR walk on

So you have 5* shipley, then more walk ons than scholarship players, a low 3* star and a mid 4* TF.
