vs. UL- Kyle Bolin, back-up QB making his first start.
vs. ND- DeShone Kizer back-up QB.
vs. GT- Justin Thomas running back playing QB.
vs. BC - True freshman back-up QB Jeff Smith making his 2nd start.
So not counting the QB's from Wofford and Appalachian State, Clemson has faced 3 young inexperienced back-ups and one running back.
Kaaya and crew gonna have them shell shocked.
Why not address the opposite side of this? QBs Miami has faced:
Bethune Cookman - Quentin Williams. FCS QB.
FAU - Jaquez Johnson for one drive, then we made backup redshirt freshman Jason Driskell look great for 2 quarters.
Nebraska - Tommy Armstrong. He's awful, but we made him look like a Heisman contender in the 4th quarter.
Cincinnati - Backup redshirt freshman Hayden Moore led Cincy to a double-digit victory over us.
FSU - Everett Golson. Good player.
Virginia Tech - Backup Brenden Motley may be the worst QB we faced all season. He was horrendous.
We've faced an FCS QB and three backups in six games, including one who led his team to victory over Miami. Armstrong is a terrible QB of a sub-.500 team who has never completed more than 54% of his passes in a season (including this one). Golson is the only good QB we've faced, and he's been a game manager for them all season aside from the Louisville game last Saturday.
And now we're about to go up against Deshaun Watson, who's far better than anyone we've faced to date. But hey, feel free to delude yourself because that's more fun to do, right?
You can address things however you like..
But don't for a second think that the collective quality of the QB's Miami has faced including the Cincy backup are not markedly better than the schmoos Clemson has faced.
Armstrong is better than any QB Clemson has faced. That should really tell you the quality of QB's they've faced which adds to why they are a overrated #6 team.
BC's 3rd string true freshman Back up QB did remarkably well against them.
BC's QB did "remarkably well," huh? 7-of-22 for 87 yards is playing remarkably well to you? Holy s***. He's a terrible QB right now, but you're not dealing with reality when you say he played remarkably well against Clemson with those numbers.
Also, Armstrong isn't better than Kizer. Just stop.
DeShone Kizer (5 starts) - 65.4% completions, 1,370 yards, 8.95 YPA, 10 TDs, 4 INTs, 156.9 rating, 175 yards rushing, 3 rushing TDs
Tommy Armstrong (7 starts) - 54.2% completions, 1,761 yards, 7.46 YPA, 15 TDs, 6 INTs, 132.8 rating, 244 yards rushing, 2 rushing TDs
Kizer has played against better opposition and has done a really nice job ever since Zaire suffered a fractured ankle. Armstrong is terrible despite being their starter for multiple years.
