It's possible, but also possible we go with a portal guy, or Nickel or Coleman. No guarantees and no way to predict with high certainty how a QB does at the next level.

My point is getting Abrams likely gives us a legit talent that can start at some point, possibly early.

Abrams is consensus top 100 player. None of the other QBs Mario's gotten up to this point were even close. We haven't even tried to get the top guys until this year. Which to me indicates we are realizing we shouldn't be completely dependent on the Portal

Yes it’s about 30 minutes south of downtown Chicago. That’s where I went.

You previously said, "Abrams would be the first legit blue-chip QB that we've recruited out of H.S. since Mario's been here. If he lives up to his ranking, good chance we won't need to get a portal guy".

And now you say, "No guarantees and no way to predict with high certainty how a QB does at the next level". I guarantee you, Miami will not roll out a true FR QB game 1 vs Utah at Allegiant Stadium. It will be a portal QB.

And that's my point. Is Abram talented? Oh sure. But we are at the top of the food chain. Only two true FR QBs (that I'm aware of) have won national championships as starting QBs, Trevor Lawrence and Jamelle Holloway, and neither of these two started the season; they both took over during the season. Miami is not giving the keys to a national title contender to Luke Nickel, RS SO Coleman, nor FR Abrams. We will have a portal QB in 2027 until Abrams is able to develop into a starting championship QB.
