QB Coach

Fedora could double as the Oc/qb coach. Rather that than hiring ponce
He’s never been a QB coach...only a RB and WR coach. Why are you suggesting he should coach a position he’s never coached before? He didn’t play QB...he played WR.

I'm not opposed to that but...if James Coley wants to come back to sofla... take him ..HE IS A BULLDOG OF A RECRUITER IN SOUTHH FLORIDA AND HE IS A HELLUVA QB COACH!!!!!

Ponce has actually coached QBs. He did it for 5 years at App State. We can question how good he is, but he aint Jon.

Jon is the lowest bar in the entire power 5. There are probably high school coaches in Alaska who would be better than Jon.
But being better than Jon shouldn't even be a qualification. This is MIAMI. We can do better than "he coached at App St & he's better than Jon". There's no way someone better is not available.

QB has been too big of a hole for us to give an up and comer his shot.

Did you not read OPs post? He stated Fedora hasn’t ever coached QBs.
May be the case but I find it hard to believe an oc as successful as fedora has been in that aspect and more importantly a head coach doesn’t know how to coach qbs or what’s going on in that position

If the OC hire is Fedora, which I'm okay with, we'd still need a QB coach. Fedora has never coached QBs.

So I'm gonna sound like a broken record and advocate for Graham Harrell again. If Manny wants to implement an "Air Raid" style offense, it's best to get a QB whisperer who still holds NCAA records for that style.

Probably a pipe dream since he's OC at North Texas now, but it'd make sense.

Maybe QBC/Passing coordinator? But I agree bringing him would be fantastic.

He's a smart guy. If he were interested in moving up quickly to P5 he has to assume Fedora is a 2-3 year rental and he could move up to OC afterwards.

Coley coming back and I’m not sure in what capacity, brad Kayaa mom absolutely loves the dude and was all hype about um last night. Figured it had something to do with coley

Fedora getting full autonomy

Hence why the entire offensive staff was fired
Stop that. He fired everyone because they were trash and the entire offense on and off the field was a dysfunctional mess. Needed a complete overhaul and hit the reset button.

No way Diaz is going to abdicate hiring his own assistants at his first job. A clean slate makes it more alluring for a potential OC, and Diaz will listen to his input. But he isn’t allowing anyone to hire the whole offensive staff.

You guys still don't get it. Part of luring Fedora is to give him carte blanche on whomever he wants to bring in. Even if he wants his own guy who inflates the footballs.
You guys are acting like Fedora is Sean McVay. He’d be a great hire, but he’s not in a position to dictate all the terms. It’s a buyer’s market for offensive coaches, and he probably called Manny.

He’s never coached QB’s at UF or OK St..he never even played it.

Why no love for Ken Dorsey as QB coach? Five years in the NFL as a QB coach and coached in a super bowl and guided Cam Newton to his best season by winning NFL MVP. Seems to work to me. *Shrugs*
Need somebody with a recruiting pedigree and walking into a house and saying “Hey! I coached Cam Newton and won a championship in ‘01” ain’t it my guy.

Diaz was going to fire the entire offensive staff regardless. It has nothing to do with fedora or any other oc picking their assistants.

Recruiter should be #1 criteria when it comes to QBC.

I hated him as an OC, but James Coley has a long resume as a recruiter. Would take him as a QBC.
Agree. We need to have two masterminds running the offense and defense and a bunch of killer recruiters filling out the staff.

Get a technician at OL too but make sure he recruits too. No more Rumphs sitting around coaching 6 guys and de-recruiting like a diseased skunk.
