Put your name on it

Are we actually still talking about this? Hilarious.

Golden was never in as much danger as this board tried to pretend. The administrators and top posters here may have thought they had inside info. They had nothing. They pumped up everything they desperately wanted to believe to absurd level and carried a huge chunk of slurpers with them. It defied all common sense. Sorry, but as a handicapper I rely on base logic instead of twisting and turning to every apparently shifting variable. Republicans will win big tomorrow night because Obama's approval rating is lousy and the out party invariably wins midterms. Obama was a cinch in 2012 because he was in the most favorable spot in American politics as an incumbent whose party had been in power only one term. Nothing else mattered. Guys like Chris Matthews evaluate every late shift but it's nothing but noise. The foundational aspects determined the result long ago. Likewise with Golden he simply had built up too much good will and benefit of a doubt within the administration to be in jeopardy in 2014. It was a different story with D'Onofrio but now he may survive minus disaster down the stretch.

Attending the Virginia Tech game really helped my clarity on the Golden situation. When I mentioned to their fans early in the game that many Canes fans were actually rooting for Virginia Tech, and every other opponent on our schedule, in determination to get Golden fired, they laughed and one guy a few seats to my right offered an awesome summation: "Your fans aren't too bright, are they? Golden isn't going anywhere."

Uhhhh, OK. I'm not sure of the relevance to the thread, but yeah. The thread is about why they won't admit to rooting for F$U. No one has yet.

It does though. He's attacking the idea of rooting against Miami as a Miami fan, at it's core.

The reason they were doing it in the first place, was because they figured it would get him fired.

As he states above, there ain't a chance in **** Al Golden is getting fired this year.

Yeah, I get that, but it doesn't explain why they won't come out now and say "I'm rooting for F$U".

I think most of them have calmed down since the GT loss... a lot of dumb **** was said after each of our losses, understandably so. The trolls are quiet now because it's just too obvious.

At least some of the quotes I posted here were on VT gameday.

I remember a few saying they wanted to lose every game if that got Golden out. I don't take names because that's just the fumes from the ruins of Louisville/Nebraska/GT. If we had not beaten Duke, VT and UNC, they would be out in force, hoping/praying/demanding a loss to the Noles. But now that the Canes are on a winning streak of sorts, there's no point in purposefully wanting a loss to the Noles because even if we get blown out Golden isn't going anywhere now. No point in coming out and saying that now I would think.

And I have a problem with that. Either man up and state you were you being an insufferable ****, or continue to stand on that soap box. They always talk about slurpers sticking their heads in the sand. What are they doing now?

Personally I don't care what they do. They are not going to change, slurpers or mopes, and I have to admit they make this site very amusing sometimes. Some of them keep beating the same dead horse over and over but I've learned who they are and skip right over them when I don't have the humor needed to read their posts. The only ones I try to ignore are the ones that take it way too personal and pull out the insults and sexual putdowns. Not necessary and people stop listening to you at that point.

OP. Just saying, everyone SHOULD be angry with the way the defense has performed for the past few years.
Everyone that thinks Golden is not the answer is going to want us to lose, much like fans of bad NFL teams want them to lose so they can get a top overall draft pick. And, while losing to FSU certainly doesn't hurt Golden's chances or remaining the coach, they view a win against FSU as locking him in as the coach. But, I've said this and I'll keep saying it. Golden isn't going anywhere this year, especially if we beat FSU. The thing is we have likely already reached the point of no return for most fans. Most people have made up their mind that Golden and Donofrio need to go, and will not change their opinion no matter what happens. So even if for the rest of the season we kept playing this kind of defense (aggressive), and it successfully shuts down the offenses we play, including FSU, they still think we gotta make a change. For me, as much as I dislike Donofrio, it was only because we didn't have an attacking styled defense. It wasn't because its 34 or 43, it wasn't because it wasn't working. But if our D plays the same way they played against Duke, VTech, and UNC for the rest of the season, I think Golden not just will stay, but deserves to.

Golden wasn't going anywhere unless we had a catastrophic finish to the season. We're beyond that at this point. Root for Ws and let the chips fall where they may.

That's all well and good, but it doesn't explain why they won't admit to rooting for F$U. One thing I don't understand about your post though is you say that 34 or 43 doesn't matter, and it didn't matter that it wasn't working...the only thing that mattered is that it wasn't an attacking style. That seems odd to me. If a defense is working, I don't care if they run a 1-0-10 or a 10-1-0 or if they run the kicker out there to play NT. Who cares if they're attacking the **** out of the other team if it isn't working? Anyway, that's neither here nor there. I'm still intereested in who will admit to rooting for F$U.

Has nothing to do with the thread, but OK.

Still not one iota of a porster willing to own up to their "rooting against Miami until AG is gone" porst or admit to rooting for F$U. Shocking. Might have to dig up a few more shallow graves.

I was trying to say all I care about is that it works and is attacking style. Id prefer 43, I actually think it works much better. But if the 34 is working, I'm happy. Yeah, i think i accidentally wrote wasn't not was. my b.

That explains it.

Still don't believe in Golden & Co.

But no way can I root for FSU next week.

If I had it my way, we come out and dominate FSU and punch them in the mouth and I (along with other anti-Goldenites) eat my words and admit Golden made me proud and maybe, juuuuust maybe he deserves a little bit more time.

Perfectly fair POV.
