So can I put you down as the first one to admit that they're rooting for F$U? For the record, I don't think there's necessarily any shame in that. If you're passionate about wanting AG gone, it's the only thing that makes sense. It makes a lot more sense than saying you want AG gone, but are rooting for Miami to win on Nov 15 (especially after all of the people saying they're rooting against Miami until AG is gone).

And what's the purpose of this list once you complete this exercise?

To see who's willing to say that they're rooting for F$U. No trick in that.

Golden was never in as much danger as this board tried to pretend. The administrators and top posters here may have thought they had inside info. They had nothing. They pumped up everything they desperately wanted to believe to absurd level and carried a huge chunk of slurpers with them. It defied all common sense. Sorry, but as a handicapper I rely on base logic instead of twisting and turning to every apparently shifting variable. Republicans will win big tomorrow night because Obama's approval rating is lousy and the out party invariably wins midterms. Obama was a cinch in 2012 because he was in the most favorable spot in American politics as an incumbent whose party had been in power only one term. Nothing else mattered. Guys like Chris Matthews evaluate every late shift but it's nothing but noise. The foundational aspects determined the result long ago. Likewise with Golden he simply had built up too much good will and benefit of a doubt within the administration to be in jeopardy in 2014. It was a different story with D'Onofrio but now he may survive minus disaster down the stretch.

Attending the Virginia Tech game really helped my clarity on the Golden situation. When I mentioned to their fans early in the game that many Canes fans were actually rooting for Virginia Tech, and every other opponent on our schedule, in determination to get Golden fired, they laughed and one guy a few seats to my right offered an awesome summation: "Your fans aren't too bright, are they? Golden isn't going anywhere."

Uhhhh, OK. I'm not sure of the relevance to the thread, but yeah. The thread is about why they won't admit to rooting for F$U. No one has yet.

I think Golden is incompetent and I don't want him here anymore. But as a fan of a program that runs in my blood I cant root against them, especially to FSU. I end up as an observer in my living room instead of the rabid screamer in the stands. If Golden turns this whole thing around, based on my positioning, I'm one of the easiest ones to win back. But based on evidence over the past 3 1/2 years I think he is out of his league at Miami and incapable of taking us where we want to be.

So I can do both. Because what I want has no bearing on what will or wont happen. This is me either way at the end of the game:

I hear you there. But, it sounds to me like he could win you back. I readily admit that he could win me back, but, like you, I haven't seen anything that tells me I should hold out hope. In the end, though, I root for us to win. If they don't win, Golden seals his own fate. Whether I agree with it or not, he has a pass from the admin for the time being, but a tank job at the end of the season (again) would I think revoke that pass from the admin. It's certainly the only shot for him to get fired this season. That's why I don't understand why no one will admit to rooting for F$U. As horrible as that sounds, it's the only way the majority of the fanbase (if this board is any indication) gets what they want.

Not at all. I fully understand the consequences of losses, 'good' and bad. But the numerous quotes I've put in this thread don't say "I'm rooting for Miami but see the silver lining to us losing". They say they are actually rooting for us to lose. And I also fully understand that sentiment. It's not how I do it, but I understand it. Where are those posters now? Will they put their name on those quotes, or will they backtrack and say they don't actually root for Miami to lose, they just see the silver lining in losses? Fine by me either way, but it would help if they would at least explain themselves.

OK. I never rooted for a loss in any of our games. Having Alice as our coach however made celebrating wins bittersweet. I knew they won because of the players and in spite of her corching, yet she was going to take the credit for it by saying nonsense like they're finally buying into the program, executing, etc. Which means that she is still throwing all the blame for the losses on them. If we lose against FSU, it will be more than likely because of coaching. We might lose a close one where we get a few unlucky bounces or maybe a blown call or two. But chances are, we will see game planning like we saw with Louisville, GaTech and Nebraska. So, for me, the losses expose Golden as the used car salesman that he is. Too many losses can not be excused. I really want the dude gone. He doesn't understand what it means to be a Hurricane and chances are, as a player, he hated the program and everything we were.

No problem with any of that, but it still doesn't answer the core question. I don't know if any of those quotes I posted are yours or not...I honestly paid no attention to the authors...but those quotes are pretty definitive in their meaning. There's no gray area of interpretation to them. Why then won't they back up those quotes now and say that they're rooting for F$U? I sound like a broken record, I know, but no one has answered the question.

I think most of them have calmed down since the GT loss... a lot of dumb **** was said after each of our losses, understandably so. The trolls are quiet now because it's just too obvious.

Al doesn't have pictures of Donna and farm animals, so don't anyone assume his job is secure.

Al's seen the fuse has been lit on his firing, and he's desperate. If he's smart, he'll take these victories over these half-assed teams, and should have already started sending out resumes. He's not up to this job. Never was, never will be.
