He’s not correct.

He would have been correct if he had left race out and simply said the NCAA and Universities are bringing in billions off football and men’s basketball while those athletes haven’t (until recently) seen any of that revenue. A statement like that doesn’t get a senator in the news cycle though.

I always find these arguments denying race as important hilarious. Are we living in some dream state where race hasn't always been literally the most important thing in public policy lol. Let's just pretend the last thousand years never happened and Viola it's all different now
 
Race is no where near the most important thing in public policy, and race is absolutely not the issue on this topic.

And lots of **** has happened in the last thousand years. You don’t forget it, you learn from it, attempt to do better, and move on. You don’t dwell on things that can’t be changed.
