Since they're set on running a 3-4 where the DL are asked to clog gaps and be fat, why not kick Heurtelou outside and have Wyche at the nose and Kamalu on the other end? We got routinely pounded up front with Pierre and Chickillo getting pushed around for four years. We also never got any kind of pass rush from them once we went to a 3-4.

DE Kamalu - Moten
DT Wyche - Jenkins
DE Heurtelou - Hamilton

LB Thomas - Harris
LB Kirby - Young
LB Grace - Owens
LB McCord - AQM

3rd down:

DE McCord
DT Kamalu
DT Thomas
DE AQM

I have a better idea. Fire them and their ****** scheme.

Not attacking OP; the suggestion is sound. Just hate that we have and will continue to trot out a passive scheme that is destined to fail.

Golden's scheme wouldn't work with FSU's defense from last year. The talent is irrelevant as they aren't put in position to utilize their talent. Jamal Carter, Anthony Chickillo and Tracy Howard are all three prime examples of stud recruits turned into JAG's based off what they are asked to do

You can still have Thomas play DE as Heurtelou's backup:

DE Kamalu - Moten
NT Wyche - Jenkins/Moore
DE Heurtelou - Thomas/Hamilton

OLB Thomas - AQM/Harris
MLB Kirby - Young
WLB Grace - Gayot
SLB McCord - Owens

Every depth chart the staff posts is a 4-3. Miami runs the 4-3. That is what we are told. Why are you posting the 3-4? It sounds like you aren't trusting the process.

It's definitely a better fit of personnel to the scheme. AQM might be a little ticked off that he's going to have to lose some of that weight he just put on, if he's going to play at OLB. And I'm not sure Wyche can put in enough reps as a starter at NT. But it puts guys at DE who actually stand a chance of holding the point of attack in this defense.

My proposition is that they resign and move back to Jersey to open up their own Bob's Big Boy Burger franchise.

Tackle- kamalu
End- McCord

Lb- grace
Lb- Kirby
Lb-owens

3rd down-

I've got a better proposition for them.

Drink a nice tall glass of bleach and run out onto I-95 around 3PM on a random weekday.

Chad Thomas was in the 260's as a true Frosh, AQM is about the same which means neither of them are playing LB if that is "good weight" for their frames. Wyche is a fat *** on roller skates and Vince Wilfork is out of eligibility so we are weak at NT. Hey, it's only the most important position in the front 7 if running a 3-4. I'd rather have the 4 star studs as starting DE's than 3rd down pass rush specialists. If those guys do carry the weight well they could play end in either scheme if dedicated in the weight room and coached good technique. Butch'es teams played 4-3 or nickel cover 2 man 80% of the time because it uses the strengths of the prototypical S Fl athlete. Fast, physical bump coverage with safety help and a d line playing the run on the way to the QB. Sounds like a fun system these kids would love to play in. Compete every down rather than read, react, bend but don't break garbage we have seen.

Not to mention the depth we will finally have on the d line. We pulled a few underrated kids at DE/hybrid OLB last year. We may have more depth at end than anytime since Randy Shannon was learning to play head coach. 3-4 schemes are great only when the QB/O line can only account for 3 rushers 100% giving the D coordinator room to get creative while bringing only 4. We lined up our 4th rusher in the same exact place with same personnel every time last year. Advantage lost immediately. Anyone know if Buddy Ryan has any other kids? We need to get back to hitting the QB.
