Another week, another long list of Miami Hurricanes making their presence felt in the league. Here’s a quick little Week 2 recap of ProCanes by position:

RB

A big congratulations goes to Dolphins RB and and future hall-of-famer Frank Gore, who is in sole possession of 4th place on the all-time rushing list, passing former Jet Curtis Martin. Gore needed 15 yards and finished with 25 against the Jets on 9 carries, while adding one catch for 19 yards. In a heartbreaking loss to the New Orleans Saints, Browns RB Duke Johnson got a fair amount of touches but the yardage was hard to come by. The all-time leading rusher in UM history had only 3 carries for 3 yards and 2 catches for 7 yards.

WR

Phillip Dorsett continues to lead the way for UM wideouts in the NFL, as he was targeted seven times and caught five passes for 44 yards. Cowboys WR Allen Hurns caught himself one pass for 9 yards.

TE

Jets TE Chris Herndon finally got his stat sheet started, although it was a mix of positives and negatives. After not being targeted at all in Week 1, Herndon made two catches this week for 30 yards, but towards the end of the first half, he caught a pass and before getting stopped at the one-yard line, he fumbled the ball. He also had two crucial drops in the second half.

Packers TE Jimmy Graham established himself as a reliable target for the not-fully healthy Aaron Rodgers, as he caught 6 passes for 95 yards in a 29-29 tie with the Vikings. Browns’ second-year TE David Njoku got seven targets from QB Tyrod Taylor, catching four of those passes for 20 yards. An injury note worth mentioning is that Panther TE Greg Olsen re-fractured a bone in his foot and is opting to avoid surgery and possibly return in 4-5 weeks, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Olsen injured the same exact bone last season.

DE

Even though he only finished with one tackle, the Jaguars’ Calais Campbell played an enormous role in his team’s huge win against New England Patriots. Colts DE Al-Quadin Muhammad, who’s career at UM probably didn’t turn out as anyone thought it would, had two solo tackles and two assisted tackles in an easy win over the Redskins.

LB

Chargers LB Denzel Perryman finished with 6 tackles in a win against the Bills. Even though he played DE back in his college days, Steelers LB Anthony Chickillo forced a fumble against the Chiefs.

DB

Former first-round pick Artie Burns, in what some considered to be an off game, had 4 tackles and one tackle for loss, but did allow a touchdown to Tyreek Hill. A name we haven’t heard in a while is former UM wide receiver-turned CB Sam Shields, who recorded an interception, his first since 2015, along with a 22-yard return in the Rams’ win over the Cardinals. 49ers S Adrian Colbert added 3 tackles in a win over the Lions.

K/P

On Monday Night Football, Bears P Pat O’Donnell launched 5 punts with a 38.4 yards/punt average, landing three of them inside the 20, and Falcons P Matt Bosher had a fantastic day as well with 4 punts with a 44.8 yard/punt average and pinning 2 of them inside the 20.

This is so ******* sad.
I remember the days where we had 3 of the top 5 running backs and wide receivers every week.

The recruiting rating services anti Miami bias is probably behind this drop in NFL production.

Shoot. Vikes released Coley today. He was set as our 5th WR and most liked him much, much better than Treadwell - but when our kicker shanked 2 game wining punts vs the Packers on Sunday we had to free up a roster spot for a new kicker.

They were talking about it on the radio this AM - just bad luck for Coley. Especially because he had his first NFL real live game target and dropped it so other teams have no legit film on him. Meanwhile the only reason Treadwell is still there is because of his salary cap hit because he was a first rounder. People are calling for his head up here.
