Miami also made an important impression on Thomasville (Ga.)
Thomas County Central five-star defensive lineman
Prince Che.
The No. 12 prospect in the Rivals Industry Rankings made his first trip to Coral Gables for the Florida State game. Che spent time with the coaching staff, received considerable attention and came away impressed with what the Hurricanes have to offer.
The visit was an important step for Miami, but the bigger development involves the overall direction of his recruitment.
Texas A&M has generated significant buzz as the program to beat for Che. There has been confidence around the Aggies, but that confidence has softened a little.
Based on conversations with multiple sources and the feedback coming out of Miami’s weekend, the Hurricanes have made a legitimate move.
Georgia remains heavily involved too, and Florida is another program to monitor. Location could become an important factor for Che as he weighs his options, with several programs closer to home than Texas A&M.
Miami’s defensive line development, coaching relationships and continued pursuit give the Hurricanes a compelling pitch. Che has only visited Miami once, but I don’t expect it to be his last trip.
Texas A&M remains a major factor, and I’m not ready to move Miami ahead of the Aggies. Still, the gap may not be as significant as it appeared earlier in the month.
Miami has entered this race in a meaningful way.
