Good morning and happy Thanksgiving to all. While relaxing this morning I felt compelled to beat the rotting dead corpse of a horse which is our beloved program. I’m in agreement there’s many variables which have led us to where we are. Unfortunately the administration, or at least a big chunk of it, seems to be impervious to failure. With that in mind I believe there are some foundations at the player and coach level which could lead this turnaround sooner than later.

First and foremost I’ll draw from the unforgettable words of what I believe to be the greatest Cane of them all. An impassioned and legitimate “I’m hurt dog” is completely devoid on this roster. Don’t get me wrong. The talk and the words are there, but the pain which comes from failure and the fear of it is not deep enough. I don’t mean this on a macro level but instead more micro, as in play to play, not game to game or season to season. The players are who they are. If they don’t have that fear every moment they are fortunate enough to wear the U, they don’t belong. Fear of being replaced by the next guy, letting your team down, and letting yourself down. Overall it is NOT there.

Going hand in hand with the previous thought is the self glorification ailment which has infected this program. At some point it’d be nice to see someone, especially when your team is playing like undisciplined hot garbage, to say no I’m good, we got work to do when those rings or chain are passed for you to wear. Or coming up beside a frosh, yes a true frosh, who thinks it’s a good idea to dance on national TV while you’re getting beat down by FIU. Instead of correcting the behavior you have senior JAGS justifying the behavior in an interview. If “he don’t know better”, then he needs to be informed. Better yet anyone, especially the seniors, who standby and watch should move on as quick as they can as they are part of this “cancer” we always hear about.

Last but not least is the fragility of the “leadership” of this team. I just saw a thread and saw the comments by T Hill. I understand I’m part of a different generation with its own ills and don’t partake in social media but my word. Do me, the fans, and most importantly this team a huge favor Manny and eliminate the social media garbage during the season. It used to be press clippings which ****ed you off or what have you. You’d read them, have no recourse but to perform, and you’d move on while using those as motivation. Now it’s a perpetual trap these kids seem to get themselves in where they’re constantly fed information, whether it be criticism or praise. If they can’t stop it themselves Manny please do it for them. And by the way T Hill and those like him on this team (there’s plenty). You are correct. I was never blessed with the ability to earn a scholarship and wear the U as a football player. I was fortunate enough to play for a short time as a walk on in a different sport at Miami prior to moving on to a different school for a scholarship and playing time. Nonetheless I lived my dream which falls just below the birth of my son and my marriage in my hierarchy of pride in life. Your distorted nonsensical use of grammar combined with using a horse head to depict an “***”makes it all the worse. The fans, as many buffoons as there are, have every reason to be frustrated. That frustration is made worse when the aforementioned things are seen week in, week out. Take control Manny and teach these guys about the value of addition by subtraction and simplifying life. Maybe if guys like Hill worried less about fans and more about the quickly fixable pervasive issues, this team would be in a better spot.

Anyhow I again wish all of you a blessed Thanksgiving. Hopefully at this time next year we’ll be able to give thanks for the team living up to expectations.
