Preseason Polls

One of the most accurate preseason prognosticators, the dude who makes Pick Six Previews, has Miami as the #4 overall seed, winning the ACC and getting a first-round bye in the playoff.

Would have us playing the winner of a Texas vs Boise State First Round Game.

FWIW, he had FSU as the #4 seed last year. I didn't see a single other publication last summer picking them to be a playoff team, and obviously they were a Jordan Travis snapped ankle away from probably getting the 2 or 3 seed. He also had Michigan in there too, along with UGA and Taint, who were both in the Top 7, I think. Not really going out on limbs with those picks, but still. He's been one of the more accurate publications, if not the most accurate, over the past decade or so.

Some gator fan will use his gator mathz to equate this to being ranked 12th in the country.

My dum bass self read this as an overall poll and was like Holy sec homer the gayts are #12. Then realized

I could see A&M moving into that top 6 range, especially if Weigman stays healthy (big if).

Seems pretty fair overall.

Surprised Missouri is that low. Coming off a 10 win season and their schedule is pretty easy. Cook is back, most of their WR’s are back including Burden. Don’t know much about their d. I could see them go 9-3 10-2.

On paper we are good enough to win between 9-11 games. If you take Mario game day coaching into consideration I think that's drops to 8-10. I think a 9-3 season is a safe bet for this season. With average coaching we go 8-4/9-3, with great coaching we win 10+, with poor coaching we go 7-5 or worse.

won’t push back, but for me it’s:

11+ wins - Great coaching
10 wins - good coaching
9 wins - average coaching
8 wins - disappointing and concerning coaching
7 wins or fewer - a fireable offense under any other staff or HC we’ve had prior, but won’t happen for obvious reasons.

Notwithstanding major and frequent injuries of course.

Sounds about right, Mario was able to have two 10-2 season's at Oregon. I think we have about as much talent as those teams did, hopefully he can do that this season with us.

Yup 100%, I’m high on a ton of the portal additions + continuity at both coordinator positions, so I think that should translate to double digit wins. Especially when the biggest upgrades came at QB and DL, two positions that can impact your trajectory the most at the college level imo.

The only team on their schedule ranked below them is Mississippi State. If this proves out, they are in a world of hurt this season.

Not a preseason poll but another metric highlighting our portal additions + returners, and how it should equate to lots of wins

I'm surprised that Aranda has done so poorly at Baylor. Looks like he may turn it around this season? Can't take Cal lightly. They're one of those teams Miami has traditionally lost to when not locked in mentally.

I think Tennessee should be higher, solely because I think Nico is legit and the HC (forgetting his name) is a **** good OC too.
