I wouldn't announce jack sh8t until gametime at UL.

The potential differences with these two guys is too wide.

Tell UL that its Kaaya, and they will do EVERYTHING to blitz the f*ck out of him and rattle the **** out of the True Frosh, try to make his life a living **** and knock him silly. That will be their gameplan. Tell them its Heaps, and they are facing a 5th year Senior, so its a 180 degree different strategy.

Why tip your hand at all and let UL gameplan for it. Keep it quiet, tell the team, practice it, but don't make an official announcement til the day before or day of the game.

I was thinking the same thing but kaaya has been so poised I think it gives us the opportunity to go up top and hurt them early or have them over pursue and dump it to our playmakers short. That being said better to keep them guessing until the end so they can't perfect one game plan or another. Also, I would still blitz the **** out of heaps if I were a dc.

Before Monday's practice at the latest. They need to start getting the first team ready for Louisville and work on game planning/situations/packages.

I wouldn't mind this strategy. Makes some sense. I would think they are gonna come hard after our QB either way. Both are new to the team whether true frosh or 5th year. I'm just anxious myself to know. I really think if it's Kaaya then we know he is more then a little better then a Heaps.

If the practices next week are open to the media, everyone will know. You can't take a chance the week before the game with two guys who are totally new to the program and the playbook.

Monday...Golden and Coley are looking at this two ways. One start Kaaya and have Williams and Heaps serve as support and coaching for Kaaya throughout the season. With that Golden has to think is he willing to chance a sub par season with the talent on offense with starting a true freshmen or give the reigns to someone with experience. It's not good for the confidence of a true freshmen who struggles to pull him after a couple ints. Two, start Heaps and let Kaaya learn from the sidelines. Let Kaaya get majority of the 2nd half reps vs FAMU and Southern Miss then redshirt him if Heaps is doing well. Heaps doing well will buy time for Williams to get healthy and serve as a backup to Heaps until he screws up and if Williams can't cut it, well there's Olsen. In 2015, let Kaaya, Olsen, Lawson, Attison, and Rosier battle it out.

When did Howard name Bernie the starter?

Nick Marshall was named the starter at Auburn late in August last year.

I think Golden already knows who will start.

Is there a benefit to publicly naming the starter? Wouldn't it be beneficial to keep Louisville guessing?

Louisvilles defense won't be the issue though. How close is Williams? I'd say if ready everyone could be happy w Williams starting

Completely agree with you! No need to let anyone know besides the team.

Agreed x2. Pinned it right on the head CANE4LIFE.

Allison coming in 16.

It's going to be Heaps. I don't know why you all put yourselves through this torture.

One of the biggest knocks on Heaps during his stints at BYU and Kansas was that he absolutely falls apart under pressure.

If he's named the starter, Louisville is going to blitz the f*** out of him too.

It's as simple as this...Heaps will start and he has 2 quarters to show what he's got. If he's good he stays in, if he looks garbage then Olsen or Kaaya will come in the 3rd.

This would be my strategy if I was Golden, and wouldn't announce till close to game time. I would also have all practices closed next week.
