With the new CA ruling allowing players to make money for football-- I predict you'll see a huge exodus of portal transfers and top recruits suddenly shifting their enrollments to CA schools for this coming year.

Of course KKK/Trump Kountry states like Alabama, Louisiana, and Florida will quickly try to get the same kind of laws passed so they don't miss out on the money train and "buy" players -- in the open now -- instead of the annoying us of bagmen going forward. But it may take them 1-2 years to play the political game to get the same "pay the player" laws passed.

Follow the money..... ALWAYS follow the money....

As a follow up....

This is like CA becoming the first state to legalize cannabis-- it will open the flood-gates and eventually most other states will start passing the same legislation. Also remember that the athletes can form a class-action law suit all of the US to demand their rights to their "brand/image" which is literally being "stolen" from them by the universities and NCAA for millions in profits for themselves while leaving these (mostly) inner-city, poverty level athletes broke.

The days of NCAA deceit and deceptions around "amatuer college athletics" is coming to an end..... just like the Trump presidency....hopefully....

"Buying" players in the open will require accounting, in the open. This will get plenty of attention from the IRS and state tax boards. I doubt these programs have any desire for this scrutiny. Investigations may also shed light on what we already assume - the bagmen game.

Suddenly in 2023?

You do realize, at least right now, any "student athlete" taking that outside compensation would be immediately ineligible to compete in NCAA events, right?

Assuming most states follow suit, I'm trying to figure out if this actually helps us.
Are we still enough of a national brand where we'll have an advantage over most schools?
The no-brainer beneficiary here is Notre Dame.

I want to see all those crooked rats jumping from the NCAA ship. Should get interesting.

The no brainer beneficiaries are schools with boosters or other interested parties who are willing to pony up straight cash. You can just buy a player and it is legal, though still an NCAA violation. Simply offer a recruit $50,000 for 5 years of his exclusive likeness rights, but only if he goes to school A. Very simple really.

I think they already lost the class action suit via Ed O'Bannon

Honestly, there is no way to tell. But we have sucked at football for over fifteen years. I'm looking at this with a glass half-full perspective because the glass is less than half empty as it is.

You do know the klan was all Democrats right?

I don't know why our fans are so upset at this. It's not like we were doing well under the current conditions. If anything, the deck was stacked against us with SEC fans clutching the pearls over Shapiro-Gate. Let it play out.

Flake James needs to get out in front of this. Start sending recruits information about the tax advantages of living in Florida and the opportunities of playing in a major media market

First, you would have to see if nothing changes between now and 2023, and then Cali adopts the new law. THEN, you would have to see if Florida adopts the new law which would take its own time in debate. Blake James might not even be alive by then.

My point was, just in sheer numbers, and still conforming to whatever guidelines the NCAA will implement, schools with a national brand will benefit most.
All the crooked shet will still happen.
