2TE sets, play action, moving the pocket, heavy dose of the run game
First series not first play was the question. I envision a quit hit PA pass followed by a second down RPO draw play (assuming not a first down on first play). Third down depends on yardage.
Rationale: Florida has very good CBs and we have untested OTs, so would make sense to start out in 12 personnel and see how their LBs handle our TEs. Envision a quick hit to Thomas if he’s open or TE crossing as second option. Do not see a designed run play to start because puts too much second down pressure on JW and I think Enos would like to get a confidence building play out of the gate. If Enos starts out in 11 personnel, I will read that as a sign of confidence in our OL. Third down if we get to it might be a jet sweep, but if it’s 3 yards or less, expect more conservative run play out of 12 again (reveals less) or 21. If he switches to 21, maybe a RPO PA again targeting TE.
Would like to see motion but for play 1, game 1, not expecting it. Could see pre snap shift. I think they will want quick decision plays and JW comfort in box before risking roll out, deep strike or a true run option. As season progresses, I expect much more 11 formation with McVay elements worked in, but UF is a tough opener. Mallory switching between WR and TE will be tough for defenses to counter.
Like what you did there1st down, 8 yard completion to KJ.
2nd down, screen to DJ going for 13.
1st down, 6 yard run behind Donaldson.
2nd down, Will or Brevin catch a seam pass for 51 yards and the score.
More motion and shifts in the first 4 plays than in the entire Richt era. Good guys win going away and bang out the Gaytors GF's/Sisters.
I almost started a thread devoted to play action, but I’ll post my thoughts here instead.Play action getting Jarren out of the pocket. Brevin in the flat, Mallory intermediate over the middle, JT4 going long taking the safety with him. Someone finish the rest of the drive for me.

I have concerns about play action with this OL, specifically against the gators. I don’t know that our tackles, even with help, can hold their blocks long enough. Combine that with a rFr making his first career start - presumably having some jitters and maybe not as decisive as an experienced guy would be - and it could spell trouble.
There’s obviously so many different ways to run play action that my statement is overly broad. But I think - fairly obviously - that establishing the run will be imperative. It’ll take so much pressure of jarren.
Personally I’d like this game to be ugly. A field position battle. Grind clock, don’t turn the ball over. Try to sneak out with a win. We have the whole season to figure the offense out. To me, this isn’t the game. Let’s lean on the defense.
Less about the success level (but go ahead), and more about what you guys predict his opening strategy will be. Will he hit the ground game early to try and take the pressure off Jarren a bit? Screens and short passes to build up his confidence while trying to get our play makers in space?
Or is he just gonna say f**k it and tell Jarren to go long on the very first play?
Personally as long as we see something other than routine 3rd and longs again I'll be happy.
You have to figure they sell out to stop the run until JW proves he can beat them in the air. Our OL needs to come to play, it’s as simple as that.On the one hand I think they'll do everything they can to shut down the run. On the otger, our interior OL may be pretty good. Def better than last year, so will be real interesting to see what Enos does with that out the gate and how effective we are.
I agree this is going to be a low scoring game.
