Pre fall camp offensive buzz from Miami herald

"...As a young man, UM believes he’s [JT] always going to need some level of maintenance and need to be checked up on. But as a player, Miami believes he’s the most game-changing athlete on the roster..."

Let's hope Miami puts in a support system that doesn't allow above (the negative aspect) to be anything more than a comment in an article...

This is the best pre-fall buzz I've seen in a while. Even this year's sources have less coach speak than last year. A few key points, in my view at least.
  • Cam'Ron Davis and Deejay are an excellent 1-2 punch at RB. Having a healthy Burns at #3 until Lingard can start contributing, is also vital. With Chaney coming in next year, this isn't a position we'll have to worry about for the foreseeable future.

  • We've got a good to potentially great WR room. I think KJ Osborn and Jeff are going to ball out. I'm curious to see who emerges at #3 and beyond. We've got very talented guys on the roster but all of whom the article indicates still have work to do.

  • I think our OL is going to do better than most belief. While very young, I think this unit will be a team strength by the end of the season. Enos will scheme around them early on, unlike Richt who was ****-bent on maximizing our weaknesses.

  • Really interested to see how Hedley does this fall. His success as a punter is vital to our team's success. Any repeat of last year's punting performances, and those "championship level" players the staff believe we have will have all been for nothing.

Exactly, Thomas comes from a very tough upbringing. I would be worried if they weren’t checking up on him.
I’m not making this a hill to die on, but the issue is not them checking in on Thomas. Should be pretty obvious. The issue, and I’m happy to be wrong on the accuracy of this, is a staffer telling a Herald reporter that our best skill position player will always be a problem on the eve of fall camp.

True, but you know how the media is

The biggest shock of the season will be if Robert Burns makes it through Fall camp & stays healthy the entire season.

IF Burns somehow stays healthy & Lingard returns fully healthy we could mess around & have 4 legit backs for Enos to scheme with.

I'm also interested to see how Hickson coaches this group up, he's probably the most underrated coach on staff but he's the all-time leading rusher in K-State history & as a coach had Alex Barnes as the leading rusher of the Big XII last year with 1,355yds & 12TD's at 5.3ypc, and Barnes was just a mid level ranked 3-star coming out of HS.

Does anyone get the feeling Lingard isn't exactly impressing the Miami staff?

Great points. We have no idea what actual technicians at WR and RB will be able to do. Especially with a legit OC.

I’ll be honest, my expectations vs UF are pretty tempered. I expect a low-risk game plan with controlled flashes, that looks to optimize mismatches. Once we are clear of that game I would expect the true colors of the O to show.

Certainly difficult situation from a mental resiliency standpoint.
Because it’s been an issue before in this class, I am not being serious. I think he’s just not had the chances to be impressive on the field due to his injury. Nothing more.

No. I just get the feeling that they are fairly happy with Cam, enough so that they don't feel the need to rush Lingard back for the UF game.

No need to Kevin-Durant this kid.
