Rok makes most of his statements on here with tongue in cheek.

That being said, in reality, it's definitely time to get a little nervous on Zion. Especially with Campbell out indefinitely. It's not panic time yet, we know the kid is a good player and if he gets a few practices in he should be fine. We're still 11 days out. But he has to get a few full practices in. This situation is a little easier as a skill kid. As a tackle, having your first live reps against Bama's front is not a recipe for success. I would think if he's not full go by the weekend, this becomes a major situation.
Haha, yeah I know how Rok works haha

I agree. Him being full go by Friday would alleviate any concerns. I’d say Monday is probably the drop dead day for him to be back at full go. If he’s not by then, I don’t like his chances of being effective at all come the 4th. Thursday and Friday practices are usually more mental which means he wouldn’t have much contact before facing a front like Bama’s.

I dont think Bama has ever had an elite pass rusher in Sabans era of defense. MAYBE Courtney Upshaw. But their scheme doesnt focus on getting to the QB as fast as possible like ours does. From what I can gather, its stopping the run at all costs and making teams one dimensional.
Not true they have led the country in sacks they led the country in sacks in 2015-16 with 54 and 52 sacks. They were tied for 7th last year and had 45 and 40 also in the last couple years. This ain't the same defense they ran from 2007-14. After that they've played way less 3-4 and play more 4-2-5 and 3-3-5. Anderson and Allen along with their backups sanders and braswell are going to be a problem. Especially Anderson who led the country with 60 hurries last year. They still play the run first but they penetrate more than they used to. Jonathan Allen had double digit sacks two years in a row at de. Tim Williams was getting tons of sacks too. They've had others I can't even think of their names. Th
Meh. I'll give you Jonathan Allen. Forgot about him. But for a team that has had probably 30+ guys go in the first round on defense the past 14 years...you would think they would have alot more since their defenses are year in and year out top 5-10 in the country.

Will Anderson is supposed to be that dude so we will see in 2 weeks. I like Zion to hold his own.

Alot of yall are really sleeping on a kid that has started every game since he was a Tr-Fr and has only gotten better since. And where most mock drafts have going in the first round in this years draft. This isnt Freeman Brown we are trotting out there. Zion is a man too.
My point was they've had a change in their pass rush from 2015 to the present more than them having a dominant pass rusher. They've usually had one dlineman and a couple of outside linebackers who get a decent amount of sacks. They had Allen,q. Williams and last year barramore as the dl that got sacks. This year I don't think they have a guy that'll do that. So it'll have to mainly come from the two olbs.

I like nelson and I'm not sleeping on him at all. I hope he's healthy because Anderson is a beast and might get double digit sacks this year. With our better interior and their lack of a rusher on the inside we have a better chance of keeping the A gaps cleaner than we did against Clemson and Pitt. With kings size I think that's more important than keeping the outside rush at bay.

Exactly lol.

Al is far behind , he had the health issue then an injury. We have our outside cb's locked in and the nickel guy ( Couch). So it's hard for him to get reps there and there's also guys nicked up at safety. So there's extra repa to be taken there, which is common if there's guys missing in a grouping . You can also get a look at him there and maybe use him down the road. He still has a ways to go though.
Not taking shots at the guy but, football seems to have taken a backseat to streaming video games.
Is his heart still in it?

He’s mocked everywhere in the top 15. He’s one of the top guys for sure.
It's been a lazy take all summer imo. The guy is solid but they seem to be walking back the hype a wee bit. He wasn't in McShay's top 50 and didn't make this mock from a few days back: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/2022-nfl-mock-draft-mellor-august/2/

Nothing against him or his ability but Scaife and Williams are both solid tackles, and I'm not convinced that Zion is miles better than either at this juncture. A couple years from now when Zion is more developed I could entertain the round 1 hype but not now.

That's what happens when your life becomes so worthless, you feel it's necessary to spread negative & toxic energy. If these individuals weren't such cowards, they would just isolate themselves & commit suicide, instead of making the rest of the world suffer through their unbearable personalities & character flaws. All I asserted was that Scaife and Williams may do a good enough job that they will hang onto their respective starting jobs regardless of Nelson's availability, which I believe they will do. People should stop dragging Scaife and Williams' name through the mud and have some **** respect.

Agreed. Our fans rode the wave of a couple of guys projecting him to be a 1st round pick or even top 10-15 when it's just that, a projection. Guys were believing he's better than Neal lol. Every scout has said that Nelson has the potential to get there but he isn't there yet because he lacks technique and strength plus he's too inconsistent.

Yeah I think we all see the potential for sure. He has thrived here and will be solid for us. If he takes the next giant leap and becomes one of the best OTs in the game in 2021 I'll be here to drink my own ****.

If Zion is indeed going to be out its better that we have known for this long and I hope and pray Lashlee has a game plan that provides some back side help with RB and TE on passing downs.

Garin Justice was on WQAM tonight:

“I think Zion, the doctors feel pretty confident he’ll be back for the ‘Bama game,” “Hope he’s not so rusty he can’t perform at the level (needed).”

“We have good leadership, good experience. Corey Gaynor is the alpha of the room, makes my job easier in a lot of ways. There are guys in the room willing to listen, motivated to get better and that’s been a team effort.”

He spoke about a couple of the guys:

Rivers: “A lot of what he is is no nonsense, very business-like. He’s a guy that is very much of a coach pleaser. If you coach him to do something, he’ll do it to the best of his ability. … He is smart, big, intelligent, athletic. I can’t say enough about the progress he’s made in the past year.”

Donaldson: “Hopefully his stamina will be able to hold up a whole game, the biggest thing that people don’t realize is his mental and physical toughness,” “He probably has a lot of pains and aches from as many snaps as he’s played, but you know Navaughn Donaldson is going to show up, work hard, have a good attitude. He’s had a good camp, hopefully he can sustain that, continue to get in better and better shape and keep enduring. … He’s poised to play some of his best football this fall.”
