PractiSe Tuesday 8/10

He's definitely more useful closer to the LOS but I just think Chase is gonna be a special talent for us and needs to be on the field as much as possible for us
Is he a striker or LB? that guy can move and tackle. Those are the athletes we need at LB right now. He had serious closing speed when i watch him in the spring game clips

Jordan miller’s transformation is one of the craziest things I’ve seen. Hopefully he puts it all together this year.

On another note. I feel like when I watch the DB drills I can’t help but notice Keyshawn Washington. That guy is huge. And looks like he moves ok also. What do you guys think

Agree on Miller. Hope he puts it together this year and pushed Ford up or out. ... Washington did not impress me coming out. Dude needs to move to LB yesterday if he hopes to play at Miami, IMHO. And even then I don't see anything but more of the same from the LB group. Hope he proves me wrong.

I think Carter has the athleticism to be a decent LB. Does he have the judgment?

Him and James Williams look like twin towers

If it were me I'd put him at WILL but he can really play either position IMO, just get him on the field.

Some thoughts from Lake & Gaby:

- One of the things I noticed was the attention and respect Travaris Robinson warrants when he’s talking. He’s not a big screamer or anything like that, but it just seems like the defensive backs as a whole really tune in and listen when he’s talking, which is something you want to see from a unit that might have underperformed in 2020. Bob Shoop has also been highly invested in what is going on in the secondary and spent a lot of time around the group watching over drills.

Ishmael Aristide has a solid group of guys working there with Gilbert Frierson, Amari Carter and Chase Smith. All three guys showed off their athleticism throughout the 40 minute viewing period. Carter looks like a natural fit, while Smith is probably the most physically gifted of the three. He is long - similar to Frierson, but could potentially be best suited for the weak-side in this defense scheme.

Michael Redding III can make the contested catch. For the second practice in a row, he was a go-to target for Tyler Van Dyke on the long ball and found a way to come up with the grab despite tight coverage from Isaiah Dunson. We saw a lot of the same on Saturday during the last open session, so you like to see the consistency there from the Hurricanes biggest (size/weight) wide receiver. A big step from the second year former blue-chipper would be a treat for the Hurricanes offense

Navaughn Donaldson and Corey Gaynor had the most consistent showings of the offensive linemen during one-on-ones.

Nelson was limited today - worked on the sidelines with Jakai Clark

One of the understated facets of Manny’s disruption philosophy is that it fails without solid DB play and is greatly enhanced by exceptional DB play. If T Rob and Shop can improve the back 4 this defense will perform dramatically better than previous iterations.

Idk about him being huge. Definitely has some length. I think another year in the S&C program then he’d really be a player for us in the 2 deep
