If you suspend him, aren’t you just saying that you don’t believe the story and that you’re ok with him having hit her?
Not necessarily. Its saying you think he put himself in a $hitty situation that could have been avoided altogether. (I.E., why is he even kicking the mother of his child out of his apartment to begin with? Ethics come into play here at some point). Morally thats not the message you want to send. So yeah, he needs to be suspended a few games.

I dont know if the girl is telling the truth or not in her statement. She definitely threw the police under the bus in her statement if she was indeed attacked by Tae so that should tell you something about where she is at mentally at this point. Sounds like she just wants to put this all behind her and move on with her life with or without Tae in it. And thats fine by me. I can only imagine what shes been through mentally these last 30 or so days.

Pretty much my thoughts exactly (and my experience as a lawyer... I've done some family/criminal/domestics for friends & family, and had an assistant public defender job for a cup of coffee).

To me, the "fell while moving" is the killer. To use your words, that definitely reeks of an insincere recantation.

Had I been advising (and had Tae not actually harmed her, obviously...), I would have said that she started the fight by coming back there when she was told not to, that she got verbal with him, that she swung first and that Tae pushed her (or something like that) in self-defense while she was attacking him. Then she got knocked down and got bruised, lied to the cops when they got there cause she was ****ed at him for cheating or whatever, but that it was all her fault and he shouldn't have to suffer the consequences for her lies.

Fell while moving is a tough sell, IMO.

*Of course, I would never advise a client to say this if it were not true.

**If anyone needs an attorney in PA, DM me.

There's zero hope for Avantae if they convene the nerd-laden student disciplinary council.
Losers don’t give second chances. It’s a shame if they don’t let him back

Im sure this statement also didn't help matters in regards to the initial team dismissal...
“Sir, how much money can you afford for a bond, if any?” asked an official at the bond hearing over a video call. “I play for the University of Miami,” said Williams. “I have coaches that are willing to help me.”

and then the doubling down tweet...
"I want to help others who face false charges"

UM will have to 100% believe he didn't lay a hand on her to reinstate regardless of the court result. I want to believe those bruises were from moving, I really do

Anvantae says he didn’t do it

The GF says he didn’t do it

The State dropped charges and says he didn’t do it

Why are many of you trying really hard to make him guilty when all the stakeholders say he’s innocent??

How we doin fellas. Ive been off the boards a bit, with the occasional drive by. My nose buried in work instead of Bab Yaga's commitment Gifs. Cant wait for the season to start. Im getting withdrawl and need my Canes fix. 15 - 0 here we go!

Regarding the Tae situation, while Im a full believer in meritocracy, aka, let the best players play regardless of seniority, or a star player getting some level of preferred treatment/handled differently if he skips a class or a misses a practice, etc, I can live with that. DV cant be one of those where you treat a 5 star different than a 3 star. I dont think some of this board would be calling for him to come back if he was a JAG. I want to talk myself into having a talent like this guy on the team as much as any anyone. If he didnt do anything wrong, then he should be reinstated and available to practice and play immediately. But UM has the right to do their own investigation and make their own decision. If they have info that says otherwise, time to move on. No marriage counceling, 6 game suspension stuff. Severe ties immediately. Like another poster said, if you let him back and penalize him in any way, you are admitting he did something wrong that isnt on the official report. In the long run, this situation has more of a chance of hurting the program rather than helping, no matter how talented he is. They have more info than I, so I defer to the powers that be with more data, but thats how I look at it.

On the flip side, Im all for second chances. I was given one myself by the grace of God after making a bad choice when I was young. But if Manny/UM believe he did do something along the lines of what he was accused of, the wound is too fresh and that second chance should come somewhere else.

It's not going to a student disciplinary council. LOL I think there's Title 9 issues from what I've heard. That's a whole other thing...
Why would it be Title IX? I'm not disputing this, just need more facts. Would Avantae have a cause-of-action against the school for the suspension? A defense to the dismissal under Title IX?

BTW, I went to the Hoya Law School. And graduated.

I'll have to look you up in the Georgetown Alumni book with all the names. I'll look for HoyaCane.

The State dropped charges and says he didn’t do it- False.

To me if she said he’s innocent and charges are dropped, you’d need clear cut proof to not reinstate him. It’s the United States. Innocent until proven guilty. He’ll be back

I’m a Hoya too. Was in SFS, and not the Law school
