If you suspend him, aren’t you just saying that you don’t believe the story and that you’re ok with him having hit her?
 
Her recant is WAF. Miami doesnt play around with crap like this and in todays climate you would think there has to be clear and convincing details that he is not a pregnant woman abuser. So far I have heard nothing that makes me think he is getting back on the team.
 
IF Avantae somehow remains on the team and does anything of this sort again, this program will get [rightfully] crucified in the national media. This reminded me a little of the Guice situation at LSU that Yahoo or ESPN or whoever did a whole story on. If Avantae ever so much as touches another woman, we will get labeled as having a culture of brushing this stuff under the rug, encouraging abuse, putting wins and the program above women, etc.

IMO, if Manny is considering permitting him to remain on the team, there should be at least a 6 game suspension (if not the entire season) and a very clear message that he is on a one-strike policy.
 
Besides scaife, Who have been the primary back up OL during practice the past couple of weeks?
 
As stated in the other thread, just b/c charges are dropped, does not mean the situation didn’t happen. Like I said, she didn’t cooperate & recanted. Why? I don’t know, it’s all speculative; but, having a family member who went through this, and met her unfortunate end b/c of it, most DV victims, especially when it happens the 1st time, feel guilty, responsible, or that it will never happen again. Couple that w/ someone being the father of her child, along w/ a commonality in my community, abiding by the no-snitch clause, and u have a myriad of reasons.

The “Oh I got these bruises, injuries while I was moving” is all u guys need to know. Again, if Avantae is let back on the team, his leash better be the shortest one in CFB’s history, taking parenting classes w/ this young lady, getting anger mgmt classes, and learning how not to jeopardize ur future by constantly being put in stupid situations.

It's a very tricky situation. That's why I've felt they won't take him back, even before this document came out. I watched that arraignment video. And have some background on stuff like this. Manny was never going to get to make this decision

I once witnessed my drunk neighbors full on fist fight. The next morning had no clue they were fighting in the breezeway.

we don’t know the details so we shouldn’t crucify him based on scenarios we’ve come up with in our heads. We don’t know if it’s his character or a one off incident. Let the people in the know do their jobs.

If Miami doesn’t let him back on the team, he’ll be on an SEC roster before the end of the year.

Not saying that means he should be allowed back or not, just making the obvious statement.

also, context is important. why was Avantae not playing last year? had he had other incidents?

Was listening to coach Hayes show last night and they were talking about the Avante situation and said they heard this was the straw that broke the camel's back if so it may explain why the quick toss.
 
Innocent until proven guilty. He learned his lesson. Two game suspension and a tight leash from here on. It's time to act like a major program even if we aren't playing like that currently. It's obvious he wants to be a Hurricane, and he can be an asset if he gets his **** in order.
 
Would support a return with a full year on the scout team. No travel. Must partake in a clear, detailed program to earn his way back as an full member of the team. Attend all classes, study halls, whatever programs are available for anger management, counseling, or whatever is appropriate.

Zero tolerance policy.

Suspend him for App State and Central Connecticut like Saban would do.
