Practise #8

"Very inconsistent, the offensive line - we've been shuffling guys in and out of there because of injuries," Enos said. "We had to move Donaldson to center (from guard) on Saturday, he hadn't played center all spring. He did a tremendous job moving to center for us. But really there's been no continuity. We're trying to figure out who is a tackle, the starter, who is a two. It's been hard that way, especially against a defense doing as much as they’re doing. ... We have two freshmen playing left tackle in the scrimmage Saturday - they should be getting ready for the senior prom and they’re out there blocking one of the best defenses in the country."

Enos praised the way the linemen are being coached up and added “At the end of the day we’ll have an offensive line we’re excited about."

* Enos said he won’t ask the D to dial anything back in upcoming scrimmages.

“It’s frustrating, humbling at times but hopefully we can learn from those adverse situations,” Enos said.

Offensive coordinator/QB coach Dan Enos doesn’t mince words when it comes to which unit won the scrimmage on Saturday.

“The defense totally dominated the offense the entire day,” he said.

Which QB stood out Saturday?

“All three pretty much even,” Enos said. “All of them played really, really slow - slow in the huddle, slow at the line of scrimmage. Too indecisive, all three of them at times. The pocket demeanor got them in problems at times and when they played more decisive and their feet were good they played very well.

“The one thing the three did - didn’t turn the ball over. Took sacks. N’Kosi (Perry) was the benefactor of having a couple of big plays, one time negotiated the pocket well, stepped up, slid, eyes downfield and got a big play out of that. But there wasn’t a lot of offensive explosiveness at all on the day.”

Enos stressed he’s not worried about the QB position and pointed out that the defense has the continuity of having the same system while “we’re trying to learn a whole new offense.”

“Not worried at all,” Enos said. “The competition for all three will make each one better players and the cream rises to the top. May be the best man win.”

Can the guys talking ab depth, show me this litany of teams that have such amazing depth at every position? Seriously. You all act as if there are tons of teams that are just stacked down the depth chart and I’d like to be educated to who these teams are? TIA

Donaldson looks good at center. He doesn't move extremely well so maybe it suits him.

Our center position has been a weak link since Brett Romberg.

Rodriguez 03-04
Wollschlager 05-06
Shannon 07-08
Trump 09
Horn 10-11
McDermott 12-14
Linder 15-16
Gauthier 17-18

When it comes to OL you gotta go big and you gotta go black.

1: Scaife | Hillery | Donaldson | Campbell | Herbert

2: Nelson | Reed | Kennedy | Gaynor | Brown

3: Moose | Clark | Lerman | | Dykstra | Elgammal

It's not perfect. Without counting specialists or walk-ons rewarded with a scholarship we're at 75.

QB - 4
RB - 5
FB - 1
WR - 8
TE - 5
OL - 13
DL - 17
LB - 8
DB - 14
Wait, what? Are these are numbers currently or including the soldiers reporting for duty after high school graduation?

We're no where close and I just don't think we ever will be, we just can't recruit with the big boys anymore.

I don't think that's true. We just really need better recruiters.
I like Manny's emphasis on top tier talent. "If you can't help us beat Clemson, we will just hold the scholarship for somebody that will." The problem the next year wave of players just isn't coming. Landing 1/4 4* recruits is going to give you a really good starting unit, but it's not enough. And the 2/4 or 3/4 year just isn't happening. So the depth is just getting thinner and thinner.
I'm not saying we should expect to get to the point where we can lose Dexter Lawrence and still dominate the Bama OL. But we can also do way better than we currently are doing on the trail.

So don't look at his history, just go by 1 minute soundbites. Got it.

I thought checking his resume would be a given. Didn't think I would need to specify that for u.

Do u disagree with any point I've made or are u just talking?

There's a difference between miss evaluations/youth and just not having depth because you literally landed nobody.
I agree that those are probably the 4 teams that just re-load and you hardly notice a loss. But the tier under them isn't in the situation we are in at so many positions because they just don't have the numbers. We already have a corner in the 2 deep this spring that was suppose to be a 2 to 3 year project. LSU isn't in that position.
