Is there precedent of nike suing competitors for using a Jersey design that resembles theirs? Not being a smart a$$, genuinely curious because those jerseys are sick

Fanatics owns M & N + Fanatics has a partnership with Nike to produce collegiate gear. So if Nike were to have exclusive rights to a design, that would be why fanatics can produce the retros.

There is a difference between licensing and selling a throwback as a merchandise offering...and literally copying the design of a prior-year jersey to be worn in games...

Mitchell & Ness licenses their throwbacks. That's why they are more expensive.

I think we would see something if that’s the case shortly. It’s the centennial year for Texas Tech and they just dropped them. (They actually look good)

Adidas just dropped Texas Tech Centennial jersey. It’s pretty cool, objectively. I like the modern spin they did on it.

Yes if Nike, or Adidas for that matter, have trademarked a jersey design, then yes the other party can be sued. However, just like w/ anything else, all u have to do is make a “subtle” change or adjustment & usually u can skirt by.

However, I’ve noticed UW has new practice jerseys, as well. It looks like Adidas is making some adjustments to their practice templates, which is…unusual, honestly. UW practice jerseys look like game jerseys which makes zero sense.

Anyways, I’ll also say this about the Mitchell & Ness throwback 2000 unis: they slightly differ than Nike’s which makes perfect sense as Nike has the 1 of 1 template & Mitchell & Ness are trying to copy it as best as possible.

Adidas just dropped Texas Tech Centennial jersey. It’s pretty cool, objectively. I like the modern spin they did on it.

I like the logo on the sleeves. I would like to see Adidas do something like that with us. Maybe the U or Sebastian on the side of the sleeves.

I'll give them credit to, the Vinny T patch looks good.
