Powell

Boys, I hate to sound pessimistic but I am fearful we cant ever reach the mountaintop again. The game has changed and the 305 boys dont respect the U and only care about getting paid and showing out somewhere else. Unless we either get an elite coaching staff (likely cant afford) or start paying guys (Nevin killed that for awhile) we are not going to be able to compete. JMO, but it looks bleak.

What's everybody say? Kid is just a prospect til the ink hits the paper. I'd take all commitments as kids are just saving a spot.

Done deal it appears: @ZachAbolverdi: BREAKING: RB Brandon Powell (@_Powellbp4) will enroll early at #UF per Deerfield Beach head coach Allen Jackson. #Gators

so he is getting money??? lol because uf dont put backs in the league.

Gotta feed the fam. Been struggling for too long

Thank god we can rely on the NCAA to come down on UF like a ton of bricks for this, right?

An EE flips at the 11th hour and he puts this on twitter.

Open and shut case.

LOL y'all tripping.

Yea I'm sure UF is breaking the bank to pay some kid they didn't see fit to offer until their Plan A, B, and C went eslewhere. I mean the dude got offered a few days ago, that's how much they valued him and y'all think they're paying him? LOL

BTW, every recruit says that when picking a school. 'Gotta take care of my fam, feed the fam, do what's best for my family, etc.' It doesn't imply payment, just hope of getting to the league and providing. Now I ain't gonna try to convince you UF doesn't pay, I know a player who got paid bank. They do it, just like a lot of schools do. But I highly doubt this particular kid was paid.

BTW for anybody that cares.

A guy on another UF board that I trust and talk to off the board said that it wasn't just all about Golden and Penn State though that had quite a bit to do with it. He said Powell and their fam felt disrespected by Golden because they were told Miami would take two backs....and that was supposed to be Yearby and Powell. Then Golden was camped out at Cook's house, is still trying to make a late push for Sony, and is looking at some other backs. Supposedly the Powell's pressed Golden about it on his in-home a few weeks back and Golden told the Powell's they were recruiting Cook as a corner and the plan was still the same. But there was so much info. out there to the contrary so they thought Golden was bluffing them.

At that point I guess Powell reached out a little to UF's staff especially when he found out Miami was going all in on Cook. The Penn State thing I guess was the last straw because he tried to reach Golden for a few days and couldn't get a hold of them. By that point he had been contacting T-Rob on the regular and that's what led to the flip. TIFWIW.

Massive fail for Golden, no matter how you spin it.

Why? Because Al doesn't have bagmen? We just got thru the Never Shapiro crap. What do you expect to happen here.

Oh, I see. Let's do the bags and pray we don't get caught which will certainly result in the death penalty!

Smh, you people want to drive this program into the ground! Get out of here with that crap.

He didn't get paid and committed while we were still under investigation. STFU.

IMHO These decommitments come from the perspective that the players see an opportunity for more PT/immediate pt at other programs. With that additional playing experience it enhances the individuals prospects of making it to the next level (nfl money).

Sounds like a very real possibility this all happened but kinda crazy to be disrespected by going after another elite back but not disrespected by being a schools plan C recruit.
