Potentially a top 5 class with the transfers

This list also doesn’t include Asa Martin or Tommy Kennedy, who i doubt was even ranked coming out of high school. It also doesn’t include the potential of us landing a couple high school recruits. We still need a corner
Asa was the #9 Rb coming out of high school. He was definitely ranked.

Phillips has great length & an impressive frame. He could be really effective in Manny's scheme. While he has been injured, I think you take the risk given his upside. If we add him & Trevon Hill from VT, the DL is going to absolutely wreck our opponents.

Only if this Phillips athlete can actually play consistently.

A big IF.

He was one of the laziest hires in the history of this program by far he is no different than randy shannon being hired except randy was a proven winner
This was Randy first hc job how could he been a proven winner.Randy hire on your bases was lazier than mannys.university paid temple 4 million for Manny what did they pay Randy 00000000.00

There should also be some depreciation value deducted from transfers since most have 1 maybe 2 years to play.
Id argue there shouid be appreciation value, since most are physically ready to play. But in reality most of these players can now be ranked by actual play vs potential, so i wouid assume most of the kids transferring would be ranked lower than their recruiting ranking.

Very interesting how will they figure out how to value the additional players via the portal and include the overall HS players in addition? Because it makes no sense I think to not include them but how do you give a boost to those that went the portal route versus a school that primarily went for HS kids?
Probably need 2 different rankings. One for recruiting and one for transfers. They’re different operations all together.

If I remember, the admin interviewed a bunch of candidates and took a long time to decide.

It wasn’t a lazy hire, it was a bad hire.

The Surge ’19 Miami football recruiting class is ranked 33rd in the nation. When you add committed and potential transfers Surge’19 launches into the top 20 and potentially the top five in the 2019 recruiting classes nationally.
"Before former Miami football Coach Mark Richt suddenly retired on December 30, the Hurricanes 2019 recruiting class was uninspiring. Based on high school Seniors, the nation’s 33rd ranking still is. But new Miami Football Coach Manny Diaz has wasted no time in adding an infusion of talent to the Hurricanes roster.
The addition of Graduate Transfer wide receiver K.J. Osborn from Buffalo, Rising Sophomore Safety Bubba Bolden from USC and former Ohio State quarterback Tate Martell would vault Miami from 33rd to 17th nationally in the 247 composite recruiting rankings based on the three transfers’ scores in high school.
Bolden had the highest mark at 24.85 in the Class of 2017, Martell an 18.45 also in 2017 and Osborn scored a 6.81 in the Class of 2015. The accumulative number between those three is a 50.11. That would take the Miami football Surge ’19 Class from a 201.94 cumulative score for Surge ’19 to a 252.05.
That would take Miami from the nation’s 33rd ranked class in 2019 all the way up to 17th. The Hurricanes would pass Florida State and knock the Seminoles down to 18th. FSU is adding quarterback Jordan Travis as a transfer from Louisville. He had a 3.92 recruiting score coming out of high school.
Travis’ score would be enough to vault them back over Miami. The Hurricanes got the much better QB on the transfer market by adding Martell. Travis likely is on the Seminoles roster to add depth at quarterback. Bolden, Martell and Osborn will all make impacts during their Miami football careers.
The Hurricanes are not done spending time in the transfer portal. They are also actively pursuing former UCLA defensive linemen Jaelan Phillips and Chigozie Nnoruka and former Virginia Tech Defensive End Trevon Hill.
Phillips was the nation’s top-ranked recruit in the Class of 2017 and Hill was highly regarded coming out of high school. Nnoruka was not ranked as a Junior College transfer to UCLA in 2016. Hill had a score of 14.14 in the Class of 2015 and Phillips 29.89 as part of the Bruins 2017 signing class.
If Miami only signed Hill, that would place Surge ’19 as the nation’s ninth-best recruiting class with 275.19 points, just 0.19 behind Texas. If they only signed Phillips, Miami’s Surge ’19 Class would theoretically be ranked third nationally behind Alabama, Georgia and Texas A&M.
Phillips addition without Hill would give the Hurricanes the ACC’s best recruiting class. If Miami can add both Hill and Phillips they would have the nation’s third-best recruiting class behind the Crimson Tide and UGA.
In the last two weeks, Diaz and his Miami football staff have significantly upgraded their roster by adding Bolden, Martell and Osborn. The potential addition of Hill, Nnoruka and Phillips or some combination thereof could be the greatest addition of talent through transfers in one class.
Diaz has backed up the words in his introductory press conference to replace Richt as the next Miami football Head Coach. The offseason should continue to be intriguing for the Miami football program a little over the next eight months."

So basically if we add Hill, Phillips and Nnoruka we would be behind Bama and UGA... This is #TNM

Seriously, who cares?

Who cares man......they play in the Coastal........the F-ing C
Have to ask where are those people who complained about a lazy hire Diaz was.Diaz is kicking sand in your face come on out eat your crowburger.

What's his current record as the head coach?

You want me to praise a head coach who is doing exactly what he should be doing? He hasn't even run a team out there yet and you are rockin the pom poms.

Just being in the conversation for each of these kids and in the top 3 of their list, is going to help bring in more talent, when the blue chips start to really consider you then it opens up the eyes of the rest, eventually the chips will start falling our way if we can constantly be one of the top schools these kids are looking at.

Hmmmmmm……..

After our last 4 coaches I want to see the wins also but he does have me more optimistic than I have been in years. And just a question. When was the last time we had a coach doing what they should do?

What would be nice is if they reranked classes every year based on transfers and attrition. I'm sure there is a paid service out there somewhere that does this.
