Hey guys... I haven't ever posted on here, but I wanted to say something. (NOT A TROLL)
I think a lot of your fan base is in the dumps for how the game went. And yes I can see how it may be difficult to see the forest through the trees. But I came away very impressed with several players and aspects from this Hurricanes team:
First and Foremost. Gerald Willis is grown *** man. That dude lived in our backfield and I dont know if that is a combination of poor O-line play and skill or just being flat out dominant. Either way, that guy looked like the best player on the field at times.
Secondly… Y’all secondary is legit. People bring up the stat line for Joe Burrow (11 of 24). I counted like 6 PBUs 4 of which were from DBs. Plus there were roughly 5 throw aways which means your D-Line got pressure and coverage was too tight to risk a throw and have that chain come out the box. You definitely have something there defensively.
Your wide receivers are legit too. Even if 82 got pulled from the game. Y’all still had some guys make some tough catches. And let me say this… You wont face a better secondary all season.
Lastly… And most importantly… Malik Rosier is much better than he is getting credit for. Yes he made some head scratching throws that were very off the mark, but those 2 deep balls in the 4th were absolute DIMES. Couldn’t place them any better. And that wasn’t against scrubs. We are talking one of the starting Safeties in Grant Delpit and the starting Nickle Kary Vincent Jr. Also, he extended a lot of plays with his legs. He ran hard and was very elusive in the pocket. A less athletic QB is sacked 6 more times in that game. As for the two picks… While he did stare down the crossing route on that pick 6, the ball was tipped at the line. Dems the breaks sometimes. And on the second pick, he was tackled as he was releasing the ball and it kinda floated on him. Two very good defensive plays attributed to those turnovers.
While the game was not in doubt after the first Quarter, just know that you will see that LSU is a much better team than it was given credit for. I mean if we had Cole Tracy kicking last year we will 11 games instead of 9. I have no doubt in my mind about that. So while it sucks to have a game go the way it did, take solace in the fact that it is the 1st game and yall can still wreck **** in the ACC.
Good Luck and Geaux Tigers.
