You simply aren't charged.
If I request every single round, I will be CHARGED for the Miami-aTm game on December 10.
If we WIN that game, I will be charged for the NEXT round sometime in the week after.
And so on.
When I put in for NCAA Tournament tickets, even when there are TWO games being played in the Final Four...I only was charged the first time for the Final 4 game. THEN, I was not charged when we lost, and I did not get a ticket for the Finals. It's so they can give the best seats to the fans from the actual teams playing the game. This is not some golden ticket that will give you a ticket to the National Championship game in Miami. Yes, it would be great to get some of those tickets, but you ONLY get them if your team makes it.
IF you are buying through your school.
Otherwise, if you want the tickets, go to each bowl game website and/or TicketMaster. But they are probably already sold out (bowl games put these tickets on sale months earlier) or else they are really expensive now.
When I went to the Sweet 16/Elite 8 against Iowa State/Kansas in the Chicago venue, I had two friends from Chicago who had purchased weekend tickets in the lower bowl, midcourt, months in advance. For the Sweet 16 game, after the Kansas game was over, a ton of people left. So I moved my seats from upper deck to lower midcourt because my friends got me past security.
Hard to do that for one bowl game, though.
