Post Scrimmage Interview

The sacks that I heard about were on scrambles/naked bootleg.

It would be interesting to see how many sacks last year happened when the QB held the ball for 4+ seconds or drifted back instead of stepping up into the pocket.

The tackles didn’t play good last year - but the QB’s And OC didn’t help them much.

Best takeaway from the scrimmage is this line. “What I was pleased with was the operation for a first time out as a scrimmage. Your pre-snap penalties, guys lining up the wrong way, just not knowing what to do, I thought we were outstanding in that,” Diaz said.

Competently coached offense, something not seem in Coral Gables for years.

Sounds like my high school days when I used to have the girls...........

My bad, we talking football. Carry on.
Hopefully you were first in line.

Those touchdowns were likely against the second team so let’s stop the foolishness. I really don’t think some of yah ever played the game or understand the game. If defense dominates yah complain about the offense, if offense dominates yah complain about the defense...it’s **** if U do and **** if U don’t with U fans. Furthermore, Diaz was pleased with how defense played as well. He never said defense played horrible, there were plays on both sides (like it should be in a scrimmage).View attachment 127708
And he's never going to say it. It's too early to be slashing your wrists, there's no context to evaluate. And as others said, the first time out, the focus was situational. But it's something to monitor.

While I am quick to be gaurded with my expectations off of reading this and not anxious to jump to the usual hyperbole about how much better we will be this year than last, the thought of having a real offense has me excited. Add to that a competent OC and a QB with legit skills and I can’t wait to see us tee off on UAB. How much do you think we hold in the tank for that game versus the rest of the season (and plays/offense specifically just for Clemson)?
With all the craziness going on, this could be a special year and with the current recruiting class, this could be the long awaited (and many times declared) turnaround that we have all drooled over for what feels like eons.
I also hope that the ACCNetwork and Comcast finally makes a deal so that they don’t deprive any of us of our Canes!

could you imagine the irony of GR15 opting out and Phillips going before him in the draft?

Homie don't even play. This would be dope but I really wanna be greedy and keep us a legit DE for more than a year worth of plays....

lots of things to be excited about. The one thing that doesnt sound great is the Chaney stat line. Pull out the 40 plus yard td run and he had 9 carries for under 20 yards. Hopefully he had a bunch of goal line or situational short yardage carries in there.
