Jarren!!! Broke the all time passing TD's record in a single game at Miami! JW has played phenomenal throwing 9TD's & 0INT's in his last 3 games, he's completely taken the reigns as the leader of the Offense & the clear cut best QB.
Enos called a great game, he's continued the recent trend of playing the majority of the snaps from the Gun & utilizing the RPO heavy, it's literally what most of us have been asking for all year! Idk what took him so **** long but I'm glad his eyes were finally opened, this offense operates BEST as a Pass first RPO team, when we stretch the field & force Defenses to defend the Deep ball everything else opens up underneath. If we would've been running this style since Week 0 we'd be looking at a completely different record this season.
Deejay played another great game, he always runs tough & with explosion, rarely ever goes down on first contact & is by far the toughest player on Offense. He's the offensive catalyst that makes the team go.
Killa Cam is big run waiting to happen, he's got gamebreaker acceleration when he gets to the 2nd level of the Defense, he's a one cut & go style runner that once he bounces outside is **** near gone every time. His upside can be crazy for next year, I think he's going to be a big time back by his Junior year.
Mike Harley balled TF out today, he played his best game of his career & as of lately has been coming on as a very reliable WR. He makes tough catches & has improved his route running since last year. He's finally starting to maturate into the legit threat out of the slot that he was envisioned to be coming out of STA. I also know he's a great lockeroom guy, his teammates swear by him, he's definitely a leader in the WR room.
Wiggins has special upside, after struggling with some drops as a TF he's emerged as a big time playmaker in this WR group, his combination of size & speed make him our most dangerous WR when it's time to break the game open. His ability to get open & catch in full stride reminds me of Allen Hurns except faster.
Was happy to see Mallory get a TD catch, with Brevin out he played solid. Still can't block lol but he can be a very good pass catching TE for us with more development over the next couple years.
The OL has played its best football coming down the stretch, they've finally gelled & have figured out how to slow down the tide of the pass rush. They still have their lapses throughout the game & still get beat from time to time, but they are are decidedly better than they were just a few weeks ago. Good job by Coach Barry.
The offense played its best game of the season. As I pointed out in my keys to the game thread, Louisville had the 101st ranked total Defense, 106th ranked pass defense & 87th in run defense coming into this game, there was no way on Earth we weren't going to carve these fools up. They have one of the worst Secondaries in D1 ball & they were ripe to be exploited. The offense had to put up points to put the game away early & they did just that, when we play to our strengths & stretch the field with the big play offense this team can play with just about anybody.
Defense:
Michael Pinckney - 8tcks 3TFL's & 1 sack
Robert Knowles - 7tcks
Shaq Quarterman - 6tcks 4TFL's
Amari Carter - 4tcks & 1FF
DJ Ivey - 4tcks 1INT & 1TFL
Al Blades Jr - 4tcks 1PBU & 1INT
Te'Cory Couch - 4tcks
Scott Patchan - 3tcks 1.5TFL
Trevon Hill - 3tcks 1TFL
Nesta Silvera - 3tcks
Jon Garvin - 2tcks 1TFL & 1 sack
Gurvan Hall Jr - 3tcks
Gregory Rousseau - 1tcks 1PBU
Gave up 496yds total (328yds passing), but held LVille to just 5/14 on 3rd down & forced 3 Turnovers.
I know many of yall might think of this as a bad Defensive performance, but if you know anything about Louisville you would know that this is literally what they do every game.
They averaged 444.6 yards per game & 32.8 points per game coming into today, they had only been held to below 20 points just twice all season vs Notre Dame & Clemson. This was the 35th ranked Offense we faced today, it was going to be virtually impossible to completely shut them down the same way we did vs FSU, their speed & big play ability was something that we just didn't matchup against well, which is why it was so important for our Offense to lead the way & put up points for us to win.
With that being said, Shaq & Pinckney still played great games at their final game @ the Rock, they made plays in the backfield & was bringing it all game long, great send off for the 2 of them who gave their all for this U over these last 4 years. Gonna miss those boys next year, they are the definition of what being a True Cane is all about.
The DLine was also very active & disruptive this game despite some big run plays. Nesta, Hill, Garvin, Rousseau & the rest were getting after it all game long & were blowing up a lot of plays in the backfield.
Al Blades & DJ Ivey had good games, Blades got beat Deep once but what otherwise very good in coverage. I feel he's been our best cover Corner this season & is going to be lockdown CB next season imo. I applaud Ivey, he's bounced back after getting ate up a few games ago, he's been playing a lot smarter & reading in on his keys a lot better, you can see he's steadily growing & getting more confident in trusting the call & not overthinking it out there. Props to him.
Overall, I wanna say congratulations & a big Thank you to all the seniors, Shaquille Quarterman, Michael Pinckney, Romeo Finley, Pat Bethel, Robert Knowles, KJ Osborn, Trevon Hill, Chigozie Nnoruka & Jimmy Murphy. They all played their heart & souls out for Miami, through all the ups & downs those boys gave it their all, win, lose or draw, never once did they quit & never once did they not give their very best effort, that's all you can ask for.
Shaq, Pinckney, Rome, Pat Bethel & Robby Knowles are all examples of what being a Hurricane is all about, I'm proud of them & wish them very best at their next endeavors. They played a **** of game & couldn't have asked for a better send off, Go Canes!
