Post Game Recap - Wake Forest

65 should never see the field again along with #2 on defense.

The 3 in the middle are not playing as a unit, and it shows. That has to be fixed asap or that will tank this season.

I get 3 DBs are hurt, but that doesn't excuse anyone from being horrific at tackling because that is the most basic tool in your kit. Guys get beat on an occasion, and thats life, but the missed tackles are game-breaking.
Yeah it's time for the SJ experiment to get put away now.

Mirabal thought he had a gem, but turns out he's not ready yet, it happens.

Just don't keep trotting that kid out there for ACC play & end up costing us a game.

Mensah needs to be protected at all costs.

Oh,

I forgot to mention it in the OP, but Special Teams...

I’ve chalked that up. We will never have good ST here until we hire a REAL teams coach to handle it. Not someone who was QC 2 seasons ago and is still wet behind the ears like we currently have. Usually we fix our faults quickly, but we are still playing with fire here 🤷🏾‍♂️. Univ of Miami should never be this bad at KR and be so undisciplined in that phase.

SJ Alofaituli had only one credited pressure, but PFF gave him the worst pass-blocking grade among Miami's OL. That's significant because a low pass-block grade can include more than simply surrendering a pressure: loss of leverage, late recovery, pocket compression

OLWhat stood out
Matthew McCoy, RTBest Miami OL overall; PFF had him as Miami's best run blocker
Samson Okunlola, LTAllowed 2 pressures
Ryan Rodriguez, CPFF's lowest-graded run blocker among the OL
Seuseu Alofaituli, LGAllowed 1 pressure and had a particularly poor pass-blocking grade
Max Buchanan, RGAround average overall

DBCoverage takeaway
Ethan O'ConnorGood — allowed catches but limited damage and made the game-sealing INT
Bryce FitzgeraldExcellent
Zechariah PoyserVery solid
Damari BrownMixed — perfect completion rate against him, but minimal yardage
Omar ThorntonMajor problem in coverage
JJ DunniganMajor problem in coverage, despite good work as a blitzer

Cantwell didn't play that was Buchanan.

Greatness as always @Memnon , wonderful to read.

The injury part is something that you mentioned that I personally believe does not get mentioned enough. I think the team got a little shock through the system given how the injuries mounted up. Toney not really playing in the second half made it obvious that the coaches just wanted to get the **** out. Mensah was hit on a play limping and moving his shoulder. Others mentioned the poor field conditions and our players sliding (thx Adidas).

They felt that they did enough and went down with the gears. It's nice knowing that we have multiple gears, but shifting down is bad. The motor hardly turns on afterwards.

And SJ is a problem. Not the good kind. They're starting to figure out the gaps and the movement sets to disrupt our technique. We're late on the interior where **** happens a bit quicker. Still have some time to iron it out, but it was disappointing to see.
