Post Game Recap: GTech

“TVD ‘s biggest flaw in his game is undisciplined eyes, he tends to stare down his WR’s & will lock in one target early in the route & will let it rip even when the throw isn’t always there. Most of time it works, but sometimes, we get games like tonight...”

This here is why I said before the year he isn’t a 1st round qb (which is fine), his inner clock is too slow and he either stays on wrs way too long or gets off way too fast..He has the arm talent to make most throws but he doesn’t see the game well enough imo.

I think teams will sit in zone vs us and send some blitzes on obvious pass downs..They’ll live with the consequences of doing this and they should imo it’s clearly something he struggles with

The TE’s got 2 targets on the night, one was an incomplete pass off his hands, the other went for a TD.

I agree it would be nice to see them more integrated in the passing game, but the reality is, the TE’s in this offense are de facto OL’s first & foremost, then sometimes they may get the ball if the other primary 3 options in the progression aren’t open.

But that’s more on TVD than anything, it’s up to him to throw it to the TE’s on the few plays when they’re not blocking or being used as a route decoy to pull a defender.
I may be misremembering but pretty sure williams had the drop you referenced and McCormick had one or two drops too

Thanks for great dedicated write-up. I'm finding myself underwhelmed by J. Davis. What was notable to me tonight was his failure to get the angle right when their QB scampered in for that killer TD run, looked like he could have stopped him short with a better effort. And he allowed a critical pass catch by running past the guy he was guarding, and not fully recovering. Is he doing other things nice? You don't say much abt him. TY.
I don’t say much about JDavis because I was against his take from the Portal in the offseason.

I’ve stated that he’s slow & has a lot of difficulty defending against the Deep ball & was met with quite a bit of backlash.

I give him credit for his TAMU game because he played really well & does a good job in short area coverage against routes that are 15 yards or less, but what has gone unnoticed because many people have just overlooked it, but coming into this game he had given up 11 catches & 115yds on 19 targets which is a 57% catch conversion rate. So add onto this game & that would put him at the top of most targets & most yards surrendered thus far amongst the CB’s.

But if I say that people will perceive that as me hating on him & trying to be right, so I just don’t say anything at all.

Hopefully, he has another good game next week, because he & the rest of the Secondary are gonna have their hands full against UNC.

GTech had a good game plan & it was just a bad night overall, it happens.
The final minute of the game has definitely redirected people from what was a truly horrendous night for Miami. TVD threw 3 INTs that were on him. Almost threw a 4th in the endzone (would have been his second endzone pick). None of the WRs were doing anything other than Restrepo in the first half. Run game was pedestrian all night and some of those run calls were very Rhett Lashlee-like.

idk what this team was doing for the past two weeks...looked like a traditional Miami team that walked into the game expecting to win and all of a sudden are in a dog fight that we just don't know how to handle. Coaches included, obv.

Williams had a 1 drop & 1 catch off his 2 targets.

McCormick had 1 target, that wasn’t actually catchable, it was a throw away.

We always have the tendency to start feeling ourselves once we get a little bit of success.

We win a couple games against & we start thinking we’re a playoff team, but every game/week is a Universe unto itself. You never know exactly what’s gonna happen & conference play is always a different animal than the OOC portion of the schedule.

We looked like the Randy Shannon/Al Folden/Pastor Strict/Manny NoDiaz Canes of yesteryear, but hopefully Mario is the outlier.

I’m going to finish reading this but going over the defensive stats where tf is Leonard Taylor?

I hope the first thing Mario did was go in the locker room and apologize to the team and took all the blame. He had kids on the sideline crying, blaming themselves and questioning the staff.

I’ve been hard on TVD but back off since the aTm game. This has been the most pressure/hit TVD had face all year and the pocket was still clean 90% of the time. But he reverted back to 2022 TVD tonight and played like sh*t. I judge QB by when things are not perfect and they still make the right play. TVD doesn’t do that but every one has a bad night. I hope he rebounds

The last drive will take away a great game the defense played but there is still issues and mainly on the secondary. The defensive staff need figure out how to contain scrambling QB. King made most of plays with his legs and this has be consistent issue every game.

As the game went on I started to have that dreadful feeling that we were going to lose this game. It was playing out as a game where we find a way to lose and as I let my guard down. We found a way to lose.

At the end of the day. Mario lost this game.. point blank

Sorry for the essay… Great recap my brother

I knew it was coming 🤣. It's important to note those same critics have been calling everyone mopes and doing victory dances over beating Temple and BCU.

**** man the football gods (don’t believe in that lol) seemed like they wanted us to win this game. But every other **** thing simple thing went wrong. It was just bad

I knew once Tim Hasslebeck said in the broadcast, “They should be kneeling, idk why they’re running the ball..” that we were doomed lol

As I was watching it I said, “Oh sh*t, we’re getting ready to fck ourselves” & sure enough, we did.

I thought the same **** I slammed everything then the last TD I went out angry to get weed bruh. If anyone spoke to me outside in this rage I probably be behind bars lol. But I got cool and had to think things through. This sh happens man it happens to the best of em and your post is spot on.

Yeah you’re right one of McCormick’s targets wasn’t catchable but I think he had at least one ball that he dropped. I may be misremembering though. Definitely don’t want to rewatch the game to find out

its about talent. we dont have the talent developed yet to steamroll teams in spite of the refs helping them.

its crazy on social media how people who arent miami fans are saying how bad and bias the refs were.
people legit saying " im not a Miami fan but" "I dont like miami but".

Oh you don’t have to tell me of all people you know that I know this ny lol. You know I have told you this before the season and even during the season. I said this is the first game I saw where the refs were against UM. I had to explain to my future son in law that they hate Miami but I ain’t ever see some sh like this. He said the refs fked us
